Is Warnock keeping his friends close but his enemies closer?

Well, well, well. We read so much these days about players having no morals, and here we have Warnock, supposedly a top manager, proving that managers are no different.

    Very, very dissapointing.

I really hate it when people say this. Diouf was booed by the majority when he was warming up, I'd rather our club wasn't associated with the likes of him, and I'm just as disappointed in Neil as you lot are. Diouf is the absolute opposite of what "Dirty Leeds" is actually supposed to stand for. I wonder how Paddy Kenny feels.

NW wanted to sign Marlon King before our Championship winning season but thankfully our fans protested so hard it didn't happen. Thinking about it, not surprised by this at all.

So for all he did for us NW has now shown himself to be the lowlife that every other fan thought he was.....and probably what the majority of us thought he was before he came to QPR.

    A scumbag

Dirty Leeds is about a tough team who always give 100%, fight to the end and give their all to get the win. It's definitely not about ******s who spit at fans, taunt injured players and get arrested for drink driving and brawling in clubs.

    Fair enough mate.
You seem to have the same opinion of Diouf as many of us have of Barton!

I would agree with you about this, Si. But to many non-Leeds fans, I would proffer that the tag also relates to a perception that the Revie team was not averse to the 'crossing the line with regards to fair play' (as Wiki puts it). Whether you like it or not, this perception has endured since. Sure, there are other clubs that have had teams/players with similar reputations, but again there's a perception that Leeds United and its fans have traded on this reputation somewhat too.

I am pleased you share the general aversion here to Diouf.

I would much rather have Barton than Diouf or Marlon King
And I think Barton is an asshole

I know it has some negative connotations amongst opposition fans, but in the same way that to many people the term "Dirty Leeds" stands for everything they hated about the Revie side, for Leeds fans it stands for everything we love, and it makes me sick to see some Leeds fans on other forums using it as an excuse for signing Diouf. The Don wouldn't have touched the sewer rat with a bargepole.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock says he has nothing to lose by giving Senegal midfielder El Hadji Diouf the chance to impress at Elland Road.

The former Liverpool and Blackburn man joined the Championship club on a non-contract basis and made his debut as a second-half substitute in Saturday's 4-0 pre-season win over Shrewsbury Town.

Warnock, who once infamously described Diouf as a "sewer rat" during his time in charge at QPR, has decided to bring in the Senegal man after holding positive talks with the African.

"I met him about six or seven weeks ago," explained Warnock. "It wasn't a planned meeting, but we ended up having an hour-and-a-half chat and I told him what I disliked about him and he talked to me about the things that he's done in football.

"It opened my eyes in what I thought about him and nobody has said worse things about him than I have. It would have been easy for me not to bring him to the club but I've never been one to shirk a situation.

"A friend of mine, Micky Walker, who was at Doncaster Rovers, couldn't speak highly enough of him. He said he's good in the dressing room, he's excellent with the youngsters, and is a bit of a likeable rogue. And he told me his weaknesses.

"We're also short on the right-hand side. There's a not a lot of money without moving players out - there's a couple of Premiership lads I've looked at, but they're on a lot of money - so I thought we'd have a look."
