Only one I liked today- Saborido e.w for Jim Crowley having shaped really well of late in good races.

I had four horses picked out today but they were all favourites. The one I backed lost and the other three won.

The bet of the day would have been Sun Central, even though it was running at Ascot’s Mickey Mouse event. Unfortunately, Pricewise had tipped it so the price had gone. It had been second on King George day to Gospel Choir, an equally well-bred colt that was running at Haydock. The trouble with the Haydock race was that the only front-runner was one of Mark Johnson’s and I figured he would try to help his stablemate by setting a sedate pace. I left Gospel Choir alone and it obliged. No chance of Sun Central drifting in the betting after that so no bet on either winner.

The one that I did back – that lost – was Jet Away, in what appeared to be a two-horse race on form. The winner Hunter’s Light had been third in the Brigadier Gerard, but Sir Henry Cecil’s colt had beaten subsequent Group 2 winner Fiorente in a listed race.

Five minutes later at Newmarket, Highland Colori got up on the line to win the seven furlong handicap. I should have kept an eye on the betting – I would have backed it at 9/2 or 4/1 but 3/1 was too short.

The good news for Tom Daley is that I have not put the kibosh on his chances tonight. Thankfully the globalised corporate junket will have finished tomorrow night and we can get down to paying for it for the next decade or two and openly laughing at the legacy promises. The kids at my old primary school will not be cycling, rowing, yachting or riding horses – they will be plonked in front of the TV or on the Playstation.

A really interesting comp today wouldcbe a worst ride of the day competition. Plenty of contenders but the winner Chadwick gets my vote for impersonating a sack of spuds on TAAJUB!

I guess you haven't been watching the modern pentathlon, some of the rides in that made Ann Stokell look like Willie Carson.

Shocking day! A place at 11/2 is the only return from that lot. Weeks betting money lost on that. Speak to you all again in a week or so. Best of luck to you all!
