Come on guys, some of you are living in dream land. Build a new station for our stadium??? Have any of you any idea how much that would cost? London transport or TFL are hardly going to stick a new station on the central line between White city and east acton just to serve us. And building a new branch line to serve the stadium on a handful of games would cost hundreds of millions. The site is close enough to White city (1 mile) and slightly less to east acton to walk, for those if us not too lazy to walk. Access won't be a problem as they won't build a big multi purpose stadium without improving access. The nearest cross rail station will be acton central, so forget that. But what would you rather have, a one mile walk to a myriad of transport option, or a drive to the outskirts of the capital where you can only sensibly drive to?
Woah, there. They have those amazing mangos that are only eaten by the princes of saudi arabia or something, and some good shoe shops, i got my nephew a goldfish from there too!
from what i remember of the area there are no local pubs boys will have sobered up by the time they get to the ground
I am talking about the London overground route clapham junction to s bush ... Follow the line up and also the cost of a station would be paid for very quickly ... They go up very quickly in civil engineering terms. Either way it's a very interesting theory as the existing nearby stations couldnt cope anyhow ... Look at west brompton went up very quickly indeed
Spot on Mr Thomas. This site has been in the mix for years but as ever H&F manage to put up a million barriers. A new station on the Overground would help swing it and there is a yawning gap on that line between Willesden Junction and Shepherds Bush. New stations cost a lot however - ask the Westfields organization. Finally, while I think this would be a great site does the Scrubs have the central London cache that the owners appear to be looking for?
I have a civil engineering mate who does tunnels mainly who i just asked and he reckons by today's prices it would be 8-12 million. He said Mitcham Eastfields (similar situation) was around 7 ... sorry but not a lot of money by todays standards IMO
