To be fair we usually would, but as we've got a full week until Brighton it can be treated the same as any league game, fitness-wise at least. Plus for once it's the first game of the season so we could do with a bit of momentum.
If thinks Alex Bruce is the second best available centre back at the club, then he wants putting down. Though it would at least put the nepotism thing to bed.
Well Danny East is in the squad judging by his tweet Danny East ‏@east_danny Coaching the under 11's tonight, give back to the youth of hull #hcafc Danny East ‏@east_danny Sorry boys can't coach tonight got to keep feet up for tomorrow #cupgame
Strange how Pearson included him in a couple of last years pre seasons and Bruce picked him for none.
Not really. It's all down to personal choice of the manager. If you look at any player at city you will always get a different view point, on this forum, regarding that player's ability.
I just think from the reserve team games last year Emerton looked like he was just knocking on the door of being included for cup games etc or would be ready for a loan, so I imagined Bruce would have wanted to take a look at him with the first team in pre season.
He looked good in the previous two pre-seasons, he's looked good for the reserves, now he doesn't even get included in a squad for a single pre-season.
Excited tonight. I know we're starting in a cup game against a League 2 team, but the season's starting nonetheless. It's been a long time. I hope a few turn out tomorrow, I'm looking forward to it.
Preview of the Rotherham game: http://boothferrytowembley.blogspot.com/2012/08/preview-rotherham-united-h.html Good little player Emo but is very slight. It's the only thing holding him back.
The two Daniels, East and Emerton, need to go on loan to League Two, and Conor Townsend to League One (and I hear there have been inquiries) Cooper's stuck in no-man's-land, and frankly I'm baffled as to what standard he's now at having not seen him play consistently at a competitive level for so long. I'd suggest another loan to League One, but given how unimpressive he apparently was at Carlisle and 'Udders, it seems he maybe isn't even good enough for that these days (and from that, of course, we can deduce that he's not good enough for us). If I were him, I'd ask Bruce to let me go, and try to find a decent League Two team to take me on. A few years playing regularly at that level and he could be back in the Championship before he knows it.
The option was in the club's favour not in Aluko's so he couldn't reject the extension. What he's TRYING to reject is the transfer of that extended contract from the old club to the new one. The Scottish courts haven't even scheduled a hearing yet never mind ruled on the case. They won't be scheduling a case in the near future either as the claim from Rangers hasn't even been lodged with them yet, it can't be until Rangers have exhausted the procedures for handling contract disputes that exist within the SFA and FIFA. FIFA are granting permission, presumably at monthly meetings for players to move subject to the outcome of the legal proceedings. As for the game, normally I'm against fielding a strong team in the Cups when we're going for promotion, but this game is a week before the season starts and should be treated as our last preseason friendly. On that basis we should be fielding as strong a side as we have available with a view to being unchanged (bar any recovering players being back for the it) for the Brighton game.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm certain Carlisle fans were more than impressed by Cooper, saying he was better than Chester if I'm remembering right. Chipped in with a few goals there too didn't he?
As far as I know we can't play him in the first team's competetive games but we can play him in the reserves until this is all sorted
