Back in the news again, with inter supposedly offering a bid in the region of £7million. I know they're a big club, but they can't afford big wages anymore and they're not in the champions league. I doubt he's on the ridiculous wages of the newer superstars at city and for that price he'd be a cracking buy. Exactly the player we are missing, and before others go on about defenders again. I'd be more than happy with what we've got if he was in front of them. And he might want to stay in England. Did MH buy him for city?
2 completely different players, so no he wouldn't! De Jong however would be perfect alongside Diakite to cover his forward bursts...
I think a lot people are getting a bit too excited over Diakite on here and letting their heart rule their footballing head, if indeed they have one. He has great potential, and no doubt over the next couple of years be a good player. But he's not there yet. And if he tears a hamstring or something 1st game? We have 4 cb, plenty of wingers and forwards so where would the money be better spent and on who? It''sIt's easy to say these things, but back it up with names, and how they'd improve us!!
Like where, and with who? You're allowed to challenge my post, but at least have something to back up your opinion....
Yes MH did buy him at City. And yes he would be a superb signing for us. Not the most likeable when you play against him but that can only be a good thing as it's the opposite when he plays FOR you, the ones you'll go to 'war' with by your side. He's among the best in his position and is very good at what he does. With a player like him you only need one 'holding' midfielder, without that quality you need to deploy two to do the same job and hence making your tactics less flexible. £7 mill? For him that doesn't need considering, a steal imo.
For me centre back needs to be no.1 aim. De Jong is on like 100k a week. I don't want my club to be stupid
De Jong would be an excellent signing, very much in the Derry mould, doesn't take any prisoners. Totally different kind of player to Diakite in my opinion. As for the club being stupid, Fernandez & co. may be a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. If his, or anyone else's wage demands are too high, then we won't sign them, as simple as that.
Cant believe peoplke are saying NO to DeJong get a grip guys.... i dont for 1 second believe he will come to us BUT, for people saying No...what are you lot on 7 mill for absolute class that has just won the premiership....? no brainer !
No two players are identical but for me we are well covered in this sort of position with Diakite, Faurlin, Derry, Park and Hargreaves (if we get him) all being able to play that role. Of course we'd never turn down someone of De Jong's calibre but we don't really need him and he wont come here anyway. For me another versatile defender and maybe a striker although to be fair I think our squad is already good enough to compete.
I'm not saying no to De Jong, he's a great player but i'm saying no to the wages & the factor we need to address centre back first
Would love De Jong here, he is class. However we are short in other areas - and they should be our priority - CB and a ST are a must for me - and a LB would be ideal. But De Jong would be a welcome addition as long as we dont sign Hargreaves (we already have loads of midfielders)
No he's not, you're just plucking that figure out of things air. If I had a guess I'd say he's on about £60k. And our board are good negotiators....
