Nothing special either and for a long time he was poor.

You are both missing the point, Brazilians dont bed in immediately. Hence why experience of europe is important.

Then don't take the gamble and don't spent the money. Then...don't moan that someone else is prepared to take the gamble and spend the money.

Congrats on beating us in equivalent friendlies against another team <applause> That together with qualifying for the next round of the Europa League are clearly incredible achievements, clearly no one can stop you :)

Edit: Just realised you were comparing preseason results from two different seasons <laugh> Obviously beating Valencia in a friendly was your downfall so I'm glad we didn't fall for the same trap.

<laugh> No he wasn't. Ramires was a good player when he arrived and has quickly blossomed into one of the best central midfielders in the league.

I agree with what you're saying though, there have been hardly any in the Premier League but other big clubs outside of England have had many successful Brazilian players.

What an absolute eejit. You think nationality determines how quickly a player settles.

Please don't tell me you buy into that right wing bollocks?

I'll bet you believe in Phrenology as well. Madness.

Ramires took a while to settle but if you think he's "nothing special" you are more clueless than I thought, even by the standards of a United fan. Even United fans (proper ones) I know as well as Arsenal and Liverpool fans I've seen on forums/spoken to identified Ramires as a standout player for us

Big clubs? I disagree, PSV were a fairly sized club but not a big club and they signed L.Ronaldo.

    PSG had Ronaldinho

AC Milan and Kaka would of been a good example of the rare times it has paid off but usually a club that allows them to adapt to europe makes all the difference rather that going straight to the big boys.

Ramirez did turn out well I agree but didnt he come from a second tier club and not direct from Brazil.... which is the point I am making? He started shakey though didnt he, perhaps he was played out of position.

I agree hes a decent player but compared to special brazilians he is nothing special. Hes no Kaka, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho is he after all.

The rest of your post, wtf?

Name as many brazilians as you can who went from brazil to a big club and immediately settled. Big clubs being big clubs not clubs that once were or think they are. Theres very few. Kaka?

When they do it tends not to work out as planned, Robinho is a good one for that. Kleberson aswell.

Fair enough to post above but Ramires cannot be compared to Kaka, Ronaldinho or Ronaldo - he is a central midfielder. It would be like comparing Silva to Essien! Unless you're talking about pound for pound ability, in which case the comparison is still stupid as the three you mentioned are up there with the best of all time!

Ramires isn't a creative midfielder or supposed to be at all skillfull, he is a box to box industrial midfielder who can both defend and attack with lightening pace.

I was simply referring to the fact the others were superstars, the best of the best at their peaks, Ramires isnt. Not that hes a bad layer at all, far from. Just position aside hes not a superstar brazilian. He may well turn out to be though....

I picked those 3 as clear and obvious success stories with 2 of them going the second tier club route first and the other working hard at Milan to earn his place.

We only got 2 votes? That actually amazes me. <laugh>

Although it is probably just a sign that no one sees us as a threat anymore. :(

Didn't know you started it. In that case I disagree with everything you said, Fergie is not a hypocrite :)

Very very well said not one to go on others boards as trying to avoid all of the trolling wumming etc. but, have sort of been following UIR which should please him def not going to be drawn into personals but I am very glad that the obvious can been about Fergie by other football fans.
I do think that Fergie knows what he is doing when he says things like this in the hope that it will distract other teams and managers so i suppose in a sick way you have to give him credit. I bet he just sits at home not ging a rats butt.
Tbf all managers do and say hypocritical things but as Fergie is sat at the top he is pretty much fair game. I think mancinis latest comments on who the favourites are is the start of another round of head battles for the top four, luckily i do not think that is a battle we will be embroiled in, that is something for RDM to worry about, good luck guys, oh and apart from the two games against us, hope Torres has turned around as he seems a top guy and deserves better than the treatment he got at our place. I think there was a lot missing from that story.

This is just a quick question, have there been any English players that have gone to Europe and settled quickly and become as big a legend as say Kaka, Ronaldo

Not trying to get into the argument was just thinking it speaks volumes for us as a nationality as I really cant think of any not really even Becks as Real bought him for his last few good years but his true time was at utd,

Whereas whilst not straight away there have been some awesome brazilian players so maybe the gamble on lucas not as big as the gamble, as the gamble - which did pay off i think on - on rooney
