Hulse scores a goal QPR Official Site PUBLISHED 15:13 10th August 2012 by @OfficialQPR Hulse on target as Râs draw 2-2 at Harlington QPR RESERVES drew 2-2 with the Stevenage first team at Harlington this afternoon after taking a 2-0 lead Secondâhalf goals from DJ Campbell and Rob Hulse put Rangers in a commanding position but a Luke Freeman strike and a 90th minute Robin Shroot effort ensured a share of the spoils for the League One side. Starting with Aaron Lennox in goal, the back four for QPR consisted of (from right to left) Jake Downes, Taylor Parmenter, a trialist and Mo Sharif. Jay Bothroyd lined up on the right of midfield with Angelo Balanta starting on the left flank. Tommy Smith partnered a second trialist in the centre. Rob Hulse and DJ Campbell began the game in attack. This was Stevenageâs final pre-season friendly ahead of their first competitive fixture of the 2012/13 campaign which takes place on Tuesday evening when they host AFC Wimbledon in the Capital One Cup. Rangers got off to a lively start and nearly took the lead on 12 minutes when Balantaâs pin-point cross from the left was met by Smith in the penalty box, but his header flew inches over the crossbar. Five minutes later and the Râs again went close. Campbell played a great through ball for Hulse, whose clever clip inside the box was brilliantly tipped over by former Râs custodian Chris Day in the Stevenage goal. But Rangers, under the watchful eyes of Marc Bircham and Glyn Hodges, didnât have it all their own way in the opening exchanges. On 21 minutes, Lennox stopped Borough taking the lead with a fantastic save from 16 yards. And moments later, Rangers were again grateful to their stopper for keeping the game goalless. Stevenage midfielder Greg Tansey thought he had scored a stunning free-kick from 20 yards when his effort curled beautifully towards the top left corner, but Lennox managed to get his fingertips to the ball and push it around the post. Campbell should have given Rangers the lead on the half-hour mark when Bothroyd broke clear down the right following a swift counter from a Stevenage corner. The former Cardiff man pulled the ball back across the face of the goal but as Campbell looked to sweep the ball home, his effort cannoned off the post. Just before the half-time whistle, Lennox was again called into action, this time tipping a fierce drive from Freeman onto the crossbar. So there were no goals in the opening half but it took just four second-half minutes for Rangers to conjure one up. Hulse created space for himself down the left and hit a fierce drive goalwards which Day did well to stop, but he could only parry into the path of the alert Campbell who drilled home from 12 yards. And within five minutes, the Râs had doubled their lead. A great passage of play involving Smith and Downes led to the latter producing a great delivery from the right byline, and Hulse rose highest to head home from six yards. In the final half hour, Bircham made a host of changes to the side, bringing on some younger lads at the expense of the more experiences players in the team such as Smith, Campbell and Bothroyd. And in the closing stages, Stevenage managed to claw their way back into the game. Freeman tapped in at the far post following a low delivery from the right on 76 minutes and with the final kick of the game, Shroot cleverly picked out the bottom corner from 18yards.
