Celtic to raise money for Concern Worldwide in Madrid match

By: Newsroom Staff on 07 Aug, 2012 11:56

CELTIC are delighted to announce that this weekend’s match against Real Madrid in Philadelphia will raise funds and awareness for the work of leading humanitarian organisation, Concern Worldwide.

Neil Lennon’s side will take on the Spanish giants at Lincoln Financial Field as part of the 2012 Herbalife World Football Challenge.

And Celtic will take to the field wearing the world-famous green and white Hoops, which will carry the Concern logo on the sleeve to encourage support for the charity.

The match between the Scottish and Spanish champions will be broadcast across the United States on ESPN, and throughout the UK and Ireland on ITV4 (KO: 7pm) UK time)

People viewing the game at home and in attendance on the day will be asked to give what they can to Concern via SMS. Funds raised will go directly to the charity which works to tackle poverty and alleviate hunger in 25 of the world’s poorest countries.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell, said: “Celtic Charity Fund was established in 1995 to use our strong charitable heritage as a catalyst for positive change in the world.

“We are delighted to now support the work of Concern who have an unprecedented reputation in transforming the lives of the world’s poorest people and who last year reached 27million people with their programmes.

“The Celtic Family around the world is renowned for its generous and we look forward to the Club and our fans uniting in their support of this great organisation.”

Rose Caldwell, Executive Director of Concern Worldwide (UK) said: “We are delighted to be involved in such a huge event in the football calendar and grateful to Celtic Charity Fund for such a great opportunity to share the importance of our work with so many football fans.

“Each night, one in seven people in the world go to bed hungry and in a plentiful world this is not acceptable. We urgently need funds to continue our work to tackle this problem and this match is a fantastic occasion for us to highlight the difference that Celtic supporters can make to the lives of those

Looking forward to a big night of European action eh?

Thought you'd be more concerned about your glamour cup tie against East Fife the night.

Username. Your bastard anonymous club have a big game tonight against East Fife and I believe they have another glamour tie at the
week-end. The name of this opposition has left my mind, as their presence on any football pitch doesn't usually interest.

Maybe Username, you could tell me why Sally broke another promise. This time to a club from the same family Linfield whom he promised
to have playing in the ipox in July. Remember the gala night in Windsor when all 2,000 fans united to fu** the Pope and hail the old lady.

Someone should tell Hugh Keevins the reason for this trip. He seems to think it is only to make money for Celtic. He forgets to mention the charitable side of this game, but then again if he did that would not give him a big stick to beat us with.

I am going to enjoy this charity match with the outcome of little importance. I suppose if we get beaten some of
the hun posters will be talking about crisis at Celtic Park but as we all know crisis is when you are closed down and return in the fourth
tier of Scotish Football. Just where the huns deserve to be.

Why is it telling me in the guide that the programme starts at 6.45? Does the game not start at half 6?
