Agree entirely with the 2nd para but not the first. A job is a job whether you are a football manager, a shop manager or a Chef Executive. Your first loyalty is to you and your family and if a better offer comes along you go.
How you can honestly believe that to be true I have absolutely no idea but I will respect your view and politely suggest we simply agree to disagree about this
By the way I'm not saying he owes us anyhing at all because he clearly doesn't, but it certainly doesn't mean I now owe him anything apart from the gratitude and respect I mentioned earlier either
Agree about Culverhouse and Karsa but we always knew that they came as a team and would leave as a team. Loyalty in football? As with most things it is non-existent. What loyalty did Newcastle show to Hughton, Hull to Brown, Chelsea to .....? I think that PL realised that he had taken us as far as he could and got out whilst his reputation was intact. I always did my best for the Company I worked for but moved onwards and upwards if the opportunity arose - just like PL.
There was a hint from PL that something went on behind the scenes but he wasn't going to disclose the problem! In my book, that makes him a gentleman and he will always have my respect and gratitude
I think you are right. What is strange is that we normally agree on most things but this is third time in a week that we have been on opposite sides of the fence. Perhaps I'm having a very late mid-life crisis!!!
Sorry to disagree with you again, but I think the club showed remarkable loyalty to Lambert! As I said before, he had more than one 'wobble' and the club did their best to hold onto him! I'm not interested in what he has to say now about what went on, it can only harm my club, I hope he just keeps quiet! I don't wish him any ill will, and will give him the welcome he deserves when he returns, but after that he's the opposition and I hope we stuff his new team!! ILD OTBC
I wish ill on all our rivals in the league, and I reckon Villa might be one of our closest rivals, so I'm happy for any help we can get, regardless of who manages them. I am firmly in Munky's corner. He is a legend for what he done, but he's gone now, so lets try and forget him.
Ironically if the rumour I heard (from two different sources, neither what you'd call particularly reliable) are true, and they probably aren't, but if they are then it would make him anything but a gentleman and I'm not surprised he'd rather keep it quiet.
I'm grateful to PL for being a huge part of taking the team from L1 to where we stand today and wish him well in the future on the proviso that we roll Villa over twice and finish above them - both of which I reckon are pretty likely.
If you dont care why are you commenting on the thread? People arnt going to stop debating things because YOU dont care. Im sorry I dont mean to sound too rude, I just think it is a bit of a pointless comment. We know who our manager is, but it is interesting to other people what goes on at other clubs. ESPECIALLY the club where our turncoat/legend ex-manager is!
Don't think I'm a bad person to hope that PL one day regrets his decision to leave us. He had something very special here - something I hope he never experiences again.
I always thought he should go to a bigger club and would have given him my blessing, had he not picked a team that finished below us in the league and have arguably, a worse squad than we do
