This type of nonsense really gets me angry. If Paul Lambert hadn't arrived here when he did we would now be like Portsmouth, at best, or out of business all together. Why should people now want him to fail just because he took what he sees as a career move by moving to a bigger Club. I will be forever grateful to the man for what he has done for our club and, personally, I would love to see him take Villa into the top 6 and then get a job with one of the really big Clubs. Everybody would change jobs for something bigger, better and more money without people hoping they fail in their new job - Football Managers are no different. It is a job and good luck to people who want to get on. Do you think McNally will stay at Norwich if Man Utd or Arsenal come in for him? If he goes should we hope he quickly gets the sack?

Totally agree. His departure may not have been smooth but we all knew he was moving on at some time. I was surprised he left us for Villa but hey its his choice.

But at least he left early in the close season giving us plenty of time to get a new man in. I could understand the nastiness a bit more if he had spent ' our biggest transfer budget ' and then cleared off in Sept or Oct.

To be honest I was surprised Liverpool went for Rodgers rather PL. I think PL would have been a better fit for them. Having seen Rodgers move on Lambert probably felt that he also needed to make a move to keep himself in the frame for a future top job. Personally I thought he would move to Germany after Norwich, he would have performed better than Steve Mcclaren did.

I look at it this way, if you fall in love and get married to a beautiful woman, you worship her. If she decides to leave you for another man and tells you that she never really loved you, would you still worship her ?

I hope PL fails at Villa <ok>

It's all a bit of fun, for those getting hot under the collar it's just a laugh at the end of the day. I haven't seen anyone threatening bombs in the post, pouring petrol through his letterbox etc.

Bang on fella, my feelings on the matter entirely <ok>
I will never forget what he did for us and will be entirely grateful for everything but the way he left us leaves a sour taste in my mouth so why on earth would I want him to do better at another club? Sorry if some people can't comprehend that, it makes perfect sense to me however.

Equally it's not worth getting mad about. Undoubtedly there will be interest in Lambeth for seasons to come but thats only a reflection of what a big impact he had on our club.

He is a club legend and although I do think he's our best ever manager, I'm ready to move on.

Maybe he'll return one day, who knows.

Is that the way you look at everybody who changes job? Presumably you will stay at the Company you joined when you left school - the number of times I moved must make me a right scumbag!!!

I think you'll find this was his third attempt to cut and run from Norwich, so not too much loyalty there. Also lets not forget what Culverhouse and Karsa did, they were as much a part of the sucess as Lambert was.

Strangely enough, I am still working for the same company as I did when I left school 34 years ago. I could have left for a bit more money on a couple of occasions but stayed loyal as 'the grass isn't always greener' as they say. As a result, I've managed to achieve a position within my company which offers a very good remuneration and still offers an excellent final salary pension which I would have really ****ed up if I had moved on.

    Just saying ...... <whistle>

I dont hate Lambert at all! The guy is still a legend here but its a case of thanks you so much for all the great work you have done but I wont be wishing you well in the future because, like kickitoff says and tony agrees with, you would not worship a woman who says she never really loved you and leaves you for another man.

Also PL is now in charge of a team challenging us for similar a league position! Yeah I hope he fails!

Once again my friend I fear you are completely missing the point. It's an entirely different situation and ridiculous to compare this with someone's normal day-to-day job. I don't have people paying their hard earned money and coming along to cheer me on at work, it couldn't be more different!

For the record, when we play Villa and Lambert enters the arena I will be among the many to rise to my feet and give the guy a standing ovation and show my respects for the brilliant things he did for us. But as soon at the whistle goes they are the enemy and I want to stuff the bastards 6-0.
