No they don't. King was in semi-retirement for England throughout most of the time he was supposed to be in his peak. Cygan has more medals than King but it doesn't mean he wasn't crap.

Ashley Cole is the best player to have ever played for Arsenal.
His wide variety of medals and near century of caps prove that.

Well he actually is one of the best to have played for us in recent times, and probably the best LB to have ever played for Arsenal (or England).

Both were brilliant but sorry there is no way King was better than Sol Campbell. Sol in his prime was as good as any player Spurs and England have ever had.

Up until he left Arsenal, Sol would featured in most Prem XI's. With respect King never would have

Sol Campbell was a great defender, but I think Ledley King would have been one of the best centre backs in the world if he was injury free throughout his career.

Too many rival fans are making cheap shots about silverware won, and also know how spurs fans feel about sol campbell so I wouldn't listen much to what is said by the goons and chavs.

Just to look at silverware, phil neville had over 60 england caps and countless trophies for man utd, does that make him a better defender then ledley king? of course not.

But as for the two defenders.

Taking away the sensitive nature of "judas", in his day he was immense, no getting away from it, some of his performances for us were outstanding, at times he kept the opposition at bay, tackle after tackle, strength, power, dominant and I remember at the world cup in 98, he was superb, even breaking out from defence with speed and intelligence.

Ledley King is a different type of defender, a rolls royce centre back, calm, composed, excellent at reading the game and could sneak up behind a player and take the ball away, without knowing king was approaching. Also King was superior at reading the game and didn't have to rely on aggressive late tackles.

Euro 2004, against France, Ledley King was the best defender on the pitch and was outstanding, to come into such a game with little experience and show such composure, sums up what the guy was all about.

Both defenders were brilliant so either have a claim to be better then each other, but if any fans use medals won then its a cheap, lazy, child like view, as football is a team game but individual talent isn't judged by medals as some players are just lucky enough to play for successful teams, while even talented players stick with clubs out of loyalty for the sake of silverware.

Looks like the goons will be playing without Alex Song as well, Barca have reportedly agreed terms with the player following PSG signing former Barca target Thiago Silva.

Two false arguments in one reply - Stewart Downing has more England caps than Matt Le Tissier, whilst John O'Shea has far more Premier League winner's medals than Steve Bruce did.

    Nope. Ashley Cole. Sorry.
He's not afraid of flying, for a start.

    Steve Bruce was ****, Croydon.
Didn't even manage to earn a single cap.
Our ex-player Anthony Gardner, now of Sheffield Wednesday, via Everton, Hull and Crystal Palace, is clearly far superior, as he got one.

  12. It's melt-down at the Library!

No wonder the Gooners are ripping one another to shreds, over on their board. It really is a pitiful place to be, at the moment.

There's a thread on the Arsenal board by some WUM pretending to be a Spurs fan and they all think that it's you, HIAG.
It's clearly not a Spurs fan and bears none of your hallmarks, so I'm not sure why, though.

  15. Ah, I see.

They ban me from their board and yet they cannot rid me from their collective psyche.

    It's hilarious, really!

  16. That Toon lad, Tash, started a fantastic wum thread on the Gooner board, telling them that they'll be stronger without RvP, and - would you believe it? - most of the idiots over there have fallen for it!

Give PESKIE his due, but he is having none of it, and believes (quite correctly, in my view) that RvP leaving will weaken Arsenal considerably. Then again, he has a long-standing prediction that RvP won't leave (which I am going to ram down his throat when, eventually, RvP does leave).

One Gooner over there has actually convinced himself that RvP staying would be wrong for Arsenal! Can you believe that? I'm not making this up, honest!

At least we have a striker to lose. last time i checked, you don't really have anyone. Defoe only gets double digits once every 3 seasons, and the kid you have is poor.

I think heskey is a real possibility for spurs, levey is probably hammering out a contract as we speak. Heskey and defoe, imagine the possibilities haha.

Since they ****ed the adebayor deal up, there aren't really any good alternatives out there, especially considering Levy is pretty tight-fisted.

Any spuds want Chamakh for 5 million?
