    Stereo,

My thoughts on "big" clubs are ones who are successful and have a realistic chance each season of winning trophies eg, The Manchester clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea. Spurs are getting there. Liverpool are behind these clubs at the moment.

It was a surprise when we beat Man City last season but not when we beat Liverpool. That's the difference that I'm thinking of. I've got nothing against Liverpool I just think Joe, if he does go could do better.

I think he will go, we all know about this clause and the teams on it. Those teams are on it for a reason. I would laugh though if someone like Spurs came in for him too.

Of course he's going, the question is where.

I hear Spurs still have an interest and if they bid then all Joe has to consider is whether he wants to be rich in Liverpool or rich in London. I fear Ash will be going too if the price is right. At his career stage he deserves a big money deal.

As far as I'm concerned, many thanks, good luck and best wishes to both, and we will move on.

Same as stumpy ... good luck to Allen , Williams or Sinclair if they should decide to sign elsewhere .... any one of them deserve many thanks if they go.

Does anybody have a handle on what the new acquisitions does for us under the 25-man roster rule for domestic player minimums. We have to be getting close to our quota of non-domestics.

players come and players go, managers come and go but the fans are the only one's that are loyal (except cardiff fans who have defected from the bluebirds to red dragons).....as long as you replace the players gone with equal or better then you should be alright, replace them with lesser players and you will have a hard season......we are recruiting good players so we should be fine as long as we don't pick up many injuries,,

No, we are not the biggest team or in that top level of big clubs of Chelsea, City, Chelsea and possibly Arsenal, but we are still seen as a big club who players want to play for. You don't jut stop beig a big club because of 3 iffy seasons, especially when there were several, very significant mitigating circumstances as to why Liverpool fell off that very top level over the last 3 years.

We were literally hours away from going into administration and at that whim of a bank Manager, and with a stroke of a pen, we could of been liquidated and would of done a Rangers. Our best players were sold off to the higgest bidders even though some didn't want to leave as without CL football money we couldn't afford the hefty annual interest payments on the debt Hicks & Gillette had transfered from themselves and onto the club making LFC liable for every penny.

The fact that we are still considered in the top 6 of biggest clubs in the league is a miracle when you think of were we were just 2 years ago. We've done pretty well despite the barriers we've had yet all other fans completely ignore what happened to us between 2008-2010 disregarding it, and chastise us for not being as big a club as we once were a few years ago as if its Liverpools own fault when it isn't.

We are still a big club we are just CURRENTLY not amongst that biggest tier of big clubs. We'll get back there eventually though. I have no doubt in us doing that and I think within 3-5 years we'll be back to where we left off in 2008-09.

We were one of one of only 3 clubs to actually win silverware last year so does that not count for anything. Arsenal fans have said to me they are happy coming top 4 but they would of loved the days out to wembley we had last year and to actually win a cup after how long a club of their size hasn't won a trophy.

I do appreciate your point and post though and in the main completely agree with your analogy mate.

Only Liverpool are interested in him. Spurs were for a little time at the beginning of the window but once it was obvious Jenkins wouldn't accept anything below at least £10m cooled their interest in him.

I can understand why other clubs coming in for him would be appealing to you though.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and a history second to none, A few lean years maybe but to say they are not a big club is ludicrous, Maybe Brendan is the one who will take them to the top again in a few short seasons. I would not bet against it that's for sure...

Dai your dreaming if you think Rodgers is going to develop a passing & possession philosophy at Anfield, as if he did here at Swansea! Don't make me laugh, Rodgers has bitten of more than he can chew, and he knows it, that's why he is trying to buy our players, no way could he replicate what Martinez has done, counterfeit comes to mind.............<ok>

I'd go along with that Phil, I think the Liverpool job may well be one too big for Rodgers to handle. They are a club who want to get back into the top 4 and play Champions league football. I doubt wether he can do it for them

Agree with Dai, Liverpool are a big club in as much as they can afford to pay players huge wages, my 'sauce' has Joe being offered £80k per week plus a cut of the transfer fee (as part of his existing contract) so with that sort of money involved its a bit of a no brainer

" He must have had something going for him for a big club like Liverpool to come in for him " ... Indeed .... he had a close knit team working together so he could make an impression on " A Big Club "

Was`nt it his 180 page visionary statement that he`s built up over the last 15 years. <yikes>

By the way, no sour grapes from me I wish him all the best, he`s gonna need it.

CJ makes an interesting poin. Allen's performance at Anfield is going to be interesting to watch - exactly how well will a square peg fit into what is initially a round hole. If you've seen Wales play recently with Allen, Williams and Taylor you get the sense of what I'm talking about. What are Allen's strengths when he's not pushing 10 to 15 yard passes to team mates that are in tune with the process. Will he be able to establish his own identity there or will he struggle like Leon at Sheff Utd.

Anyway, I'm bored with all this now. Much more interested in the talent that we're going to be able to bring in with 15M and the impact that they're are going to make into our increasingly mature system.

I would rather have £15 million than joe any day of the week. I think we have hit the jackpot there.....As long as we stick to our limit what we pay for a player and stick to our wage policy then we have one if not the best deals of all time......
