Bookmarked for a possible hamper at Xmas.

    The delivery charge is £10.50.
Bit exorbitant for a pork pie. :p

    Been there done that mate.
Always fail on the pastry. :(
Getting the pastry right is a big part of a pork pie.
That does look scrumptious mind. :)

The pastry looks like the easiest bit on that link.

like i said not for me, but my kids love them, only Pork I can eat is Bacon and the crackling off a joint, other than that, can keep it im afraid.

I remember working in bedale in the 70s and going into the leeming bar hotel most nights and
biting a chunk out of the pork pie and filling it with lea perrins hell that was a meal and a half with half a dozen bottles of carlsberg, somehow now i dont think it would taste so good.

George H Pickings at Boldon is famous for his sausage, Needn't go any further on that one but he does make a mean pork pie as well.

Two good butchers in the town mate, one in Villette Road is the N.E. champion black pudding maker and his pork pies are out of this world, he also does chilli black pudding which is delicious, but it will teach you what your arse is for.
The other one is in Roker Avenue, proper butchers, none of your supermarket ****e.

Scotts of York used to be number 1, however after 300 year it went out of business due to parking legislation meaning vans could not be loaded for deliveries. They also did Yorks hams, also gone.

A good butchers in Thisk, just as you come in on the right hand side near the Golden Fleece, another at the top of the market square near the darrowby arms none to shabby either.

Yeah thats the one I'm talking about mate, can't remember the name.
Can't remember whether I told this on here or old 606.
Took my mate there on a race trip told him they were lush, he loves his scran.
He bought 4 big pies ate them.
Went back and bought a load to take home.
He proceeded to eat the lot at the races. hahahaha

Gil - get to the Black swan if you like the real ale, 2 lovely beer gardens/terrace areas, proper old pub.

Merchant Adventurer's hall worth a visit if you like history - your spoilt for choice in York, however this is a little different.

Hudson's and Johnson's are the two butchers of choice in Thisk.

If your ever through hawick then Lindsey Grieve is your man for scotch mutton pies.
