http://d2hf1crfnymcyq.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/LTCC_LTPV_Data.png Interesting to see that Maxi, Fabio and Dirk were all on big wages (not so much Aurelio but the amount he played we were getting ripped off) FSG are looking at these things and making us more productive. On taking over and getting us out of the **** they did say it would take 3-5 years so lets try and be more patient with them This was taken from a good article from a while back which some of you may have read http://tomkinstimes.com/2011/06/fair-play-for-fenway/ Well worth the read or reread to get the positive feeling back again if its dwindling for some
Patience....the one thing that seems to be in very short supply around here at the moment wouldn't you say I do find it kinda difficult to be patient with people who are themselves exactly the opposite. Good articles in fairness and definitely things in there that I didnt know. Still doesn't change my opinion one iota that FFP will be almost impossible to police and thus will in time be rendered absolutely useless.
ok so there are two things. 1. i won't dispute much here. I am not anti FSG in any way but i am waiting and seeing if they really do much for us compared to say moores and parry. (so i think they are not g&H but not sugar daddies) Right now all i can say is they are a hell of a lot more professional at making positive revenus than moores and parry but i just see us on our own here and what we do we do from our funds only. 2. I think you are falling for a "pro" FSG agenda and tomkins is clearly firmly in their pay and camp now. its just positive spin. Again i don't dispute much facts but you should take this stuff as being the positive pro campaign that will never paint fsg in any other light than the best possible.
It seems to me that FSG are doing more what is known as 'spring cleaning''. They are moving on the big earners who are fringe players with little or no resale value. Craig Bellamy falls into this. Without Bellamy they have knocked yet another £300k a week off the wage bill. This frees up cash for more players, and these players will be younger. Apparently Luis Suarez is up with the highest earners at the club now. His deal runs out in 2017. It also seems that Joe Allen may be the first of a number of new signings, that deal seems likely to be imminent.
oh and three things. 1. aggers wages look high so again per chance this si why he's being targeted... or not. 2. the sheet makes up some stuff but you can boilt it down to this, it says we have 3 key players in lucas, reina and suarez.... though insua pops up as more key than gerrard in the value column... its not rocket science to pick those players out. 3. sheet is out of date due to new contracts etc but i think its also interesting to note that the top guys that should be moved on also jump out at us like cole as his contract commitment is red. yet amazingly suarez and carrolls are not marked red... which shows that while the analysis is valid the point being made was cole was a red. all in all all the stat in the world like this boil down to opinion, especially in the middle ground players) the big earners and risks rise to the top which points to some validity in the model but of course we didn't need a model to tell us who was glaringly obviously paid too much.
as a maker upper of stats what i'd say is if a players long term value is greater than or equal to his contract commitment then thats good. eg. this sheet puts suarez at a long term value of 20 but on a contract commitment of 17.5 so thats great. on the other hand it puts carroll at 13.5 and thats less than his 17.5 contract commiment. the ONLY difference between the two is suarez is classed as world while carroll is merely and established player. that's OPINION. on the other hand if you look at gerrard hes long term value is 4.5 as his age was 31. his contract commitment was 12 and maybe worse as he got a new deal.... clrelay if you only believed stats you'd want him gone yeah? I think some tweaking of the sheet could be done to try to eliminate some of the player bias/ opinion and try to state if a player should be sold or not using a simple algorithm set up to find a threshold between age, quality and contract that would highlight whos earning too much. but then i guess you'd need to factor in historical returns to state true value as gerrard should be considered on what he can do by track record
With the players gone I make it approx £28.5 million off the wage bill. That's not accounting for Borini Adam downing coming in
Question is the money we are saving on Kuyt,Aqualani,Maxi,Bellamy,Aurelio wages, Is it going on transfers................so far it isnt, .................wheres it going then Wage bill lowered by £300k per week ( £15m a year ) with only 1 player in and no new stadium..............mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I reckon FSG are clearing the decks for when Liverpool do qualify for the CL. With the number of new sponsors they have added plus the reduction of the wage bill. They will soon be signing CL players on CL wages.
Well you have to qualify for the CL first, and you aren't going to do that by selling two of our biggest goal threats last year off the wings and only getting a striker/winger player in who's only ever had one top flight season under his belt.
I doubt it if Liverpool are going after Messi..even Manchester City can't afford his £200 million transfer fee.
