Think it's largely for the rider. Takes dedication and constant practice...just like other sports. Also if GB can win a gold in it, it's a sport
Plus it's also been in it since time immemorial. I don't get how beach volleyball can be an olympic sport, but as long as Brazil keep sending a team to the women's competition, and I never have to watch the men's competition, i'm ok to let it lie...
Also interesting to note that before this Olympiad Britain had never won a medal of any colour in Dressage, so new boundaries being broken.
I was ambivalent about Womens boxing, but that was one of the best bouts i've seen in a long time (entertainment wise).
They need to get MMA into the Olympics. Requires a great amount of fitness and skill, popular around the world.
There will always be winners and losers in sports selected...look at kite surfing replacing wind surfing. Something would have to give.
Replace something like Greco-Roman Wrestling with MMA then, it has far more worldwide appeal and incorporates skills from all types of wrestling. Granted tradition of GRW probably means something
