The Leeds United Supporters Trust can confirm that the deal to buy the club has now collapsed.
We will be making a more detailed statement later on today once we have had the chance to establish more.

The reason could be VERY interesting. Especially to HMRC (but I hope not)

I can't wait to hear what LUST can tell us about it, I hope they get their side out before Saturdays game so fans can make an opinion BEFORE reading Bates dribble in the programme notes. First home game in the league televised ideal way to let the world know we want Bates out?

No surprise there. Another dead season ahead. Unfortunately most of us saw this coming over past few days. God help us Leeds fans. Totally ****ing sick of this shambles of a club

I had kind of thought this was going to happen with the length of time it has dragged on, and various rumours over the last few days, so hadn't expected to be quite as gutted as I am when the news hit.

It'll be interesting to see the reasoning behind it for sure, but I can't help but feel we're in for more mid-table obscurity and wouldn't be at all shocked if Colin walks halfway through. We aren't going to get the marquee signings in, we may have transfer listed Rogers and Pugh, but who is going to buy them really? We haven't exactly done well shifting the other guys who are listed at the minute. Plus Colin will only get a tiny percentage of the sales as per, so I can only guess its a wage-saving exercise ready for raiding the free market.

    Same old story...

When you support Leeds you have to get used to **** and negativity at the start of every season. I think you have to go back to before we were relegated and had a points deduction for the last time we kicked off without drama surrounding us be it lack of signings, players leaving or someone being poached

I have to place this news amongst the worse, mainly because we had our expectations sky rocket. We have watched Clayton and Snoddy sold, we tell ourselves it is okay as we will soon have the T/O in place and now find out there isn't one and we have a squad with zero depth and zero creativity and Bates still in charge.

Can it get worse, yes we could find ourselves without a manager and I haven't ruled that scenario out just yet. I will never forgive Bates for making us a laughing stock, we are sitting ducks for abuse from others supporting a team we love watching it slowly taken apart by Chelsea scum.

Why not Elland? He saved the club remember.

Don't you trust him...... to build the ground before the team, to be a pain in the ar%e, & to jerk us all about???? I certainly do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The buyers are there, whether Bates never had any intention of selling is another matter

    Statement on Official Site:

    LEEDS UNITED - INVESTMENT STATEMENT
    09 Aug 2012
    A club statement...
Leeds United ('The Club') announces that the exclusivity period granted to a potential investor as mentioned in the statement of 26 June has ended.
The Club remain happy to continue discussions, but not on an exclusive basis, so as not to prevent other options passing.
The first priority must be to ensure that the credibility of any future investor or ultimate owner is such, that the Leeds legacy and its future is in safe hands, back in the Premiership.
The Club will continue to be receptive to approaches from potential new partners who can establish that they have the necessary credentials.
Meanwhile, it is encouraging that there is a new spirit at the club under the management of Neil Warnock and his ten new signings.

As if anyone else is going to waste two months sifting through endless bundles of paperwork only to be shafted by a conman at the end. The takeover saga is dead and buried

Only Bates himself can have the confidence to survive this one... If we lose to Shrewsbury and Wolves in the backlash will be immense.

I also noticed we had several players on trial v newcastle in a behind closed doors match - From Marquee signings to......

So who has had the balls to stop their season ticket and to refuse to line Bates pockets - thus guaranteeing he will go during this season as he won't be able to bankroll the club?

I stopped my and my son's season tickets this year, and we won't return to ER until he has gone. Along with 25% of hardcore ST holders last year, and another 25% this.

He can't last much longer, but only as long as people are prepared to sacrifice a bit to gain in the long term
