I wouldn't be too concerned with lack of signings... even if we signed no one else... Cole staying again?

However... kuyt gone... Max rod gone... bellers almost gone... Is Borini replacing all three?

Until we sign someone we are weaker than last season... although we have aging youth on our side... rafas youth signings are beginning to trickle more and more into first team.

If things stayed static over the window... I think we already had a squad good enough to improve on last year... but not top 4 perhaps.

I dont think Borini is here to replace any one. I think he would have been signed any way.

Kuyt and Maxi mostly played out wide and I'm sure Borini will play through the middle.

I am glad Rodgers has said he is impressed with Carroll.

So hopefully we will have at least 3 forwrds next season.

That ok, we just need to be careful. Common sense is a dangerous thing it can kill a good rumour.
Can also ruin a good witch hunt!

Kuyt and Maxi out, Bellers on his way, we need to bring in some more quality upfront.

We're also short on a left back cover, I reckon we should bring in Cissokho for around £7m/8m. Bring in some healthy competition for Jose Enrique (Combined fee of maximum £15m for two high quality left-backs, not bad I say..).

Bring in Gaston Ramirez, maybe Adam Johnson (Only a loan, if he performs well, secure the signing).

Probably unlikely considering Anelka and Drogba have left but a go at Daniel Sturridge?

We've only got Suarez, Carroll and Borini upfront, each team needs atleast four forwards, and considering we might play 3 upfront, we are in need of some more players!

In midfield, I've recently read about Swansea wanting near £20million now, forget it, go abroad or go home, we're not falling in the trap of overspending on British talent again.

Also, the subject of Stewart Downing, any offer in excess of £8m-£12m, sell him on!

Keep Carroll and Agger (Unless ridiculous amounts are payed and a worthy replacement is lined up).

Nice to see you back, not sure on your point about left back cover, who that is that good will come in to sit on the bench, johnson is a very capable deputy as left back.

  9. What about Downing and Sterling...? Gerrard could play further forward too. Plus you mentioned bringing Adam Johnson in, where you going to be playing him...? He can't play in the midfield three <ok>

    Thanks <ok>

Left back cover, we currently only have Enrique, Kelly and Johnson for both full back positions (Carragher should be soley cover for centre-back due to the likeliness of him having to step in). Aly Cissokoho is a player who was linked with the LB position last year when we signed Enrique, bring him in as cover and he could push Jose to grind out some more solid performances. I can't see the harm to be honest, only around £8million at most and the wages wouldn't be that much of a problem because I'm sure he'll be getting similar to what Fabio Aurelio was getting.

I meant current squad so Adam Johnson isn't included.

Sterling is young and needs time to be embedded in, Downing could get some time but if his form doesn't improve then he has to be used as a backup (In which case I guess he adds to the depth upfront one way or another).

I'd prefer to use Gerrard in the midfield but if we were to sign a quality midfielder then I'd use Gerrard on the right, bench Borini as the striker cover.

  11. Yep, I'd go with that. Just wondered pal <ok>

I think us having Downing would prevent us wanting Adam Johnson. Clearly, the latter is a better option but we have other priorities to deal with first IMO

I kind of have a better feeling about the thought of us signing Wallcot than Johnson.

Me too, one thing no one can doubt about Wallcot is his attitude. He is still very young and I think Arsenal would be foolish to let him go now - gets unnecessary stick imo.

Johnson is actually a couple of years older than Walcott. Walcott is more experienced and his attitude is spot on.

I also feel that if Walcott was a City player he would ply plenty of games. In fact, most games.
