well done ,youve got a corking player in joe allan, and im sure he will do well for you.id also like to thank you for the £22m youve now agreed to give us.iwas wondering if you would also be interested in any of our turnstile operators,or car park supervisors...say 3mill?with a 15%sell on clause?the way your board are chucking money at us im sure theyd be interested! p
And the bitterness continues. I see your really upset and struggling with this news. I'm sure Laudrup will bring some other player from Spain no-ones ever heard who will be better than Allen anyway. I have already read several times on different Swans forums that theyve bid for that Bolton lad who is now, according to your fns, "much better than Joe anyway and much cheaper". Brilliant. How does he go from being the best midfielder ever like I was hearing all season and at the beginning of this transfer window, to now where some no mak (pun intended) who got relegated with Bolton is now better than him? Fans are fickle bastards ay?!
dont be stupid ....thanks for the dosh!!!MORE THAN WEVE EVER HAD BEFORE its your board thats insane, chucking it away...or maybe you think its 22 m well spent, maybe im wrong ,but somehow dont yhink so,and as ive told you on another thread ,i wish joe well!,and yes whoever he plays for, hell still be a class act !
Have I missed something here, where does it say we have signed him yet ? And where does £22 million come from ? Only thing I can find is on bbc where it states we have triggered £15 mill release clause.
That would depend on whether it is the same individuals making the noises wouldn't it...? Afterall, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Some of us Liverpool fans rate Carroll, others don't, does that mean we are all hypocrites if we sold Andy and one of the latter said 'he was **** anyway'...?
7m for Rodgers, 15m for Allen. Two very good appointments on your part, even if it is a tad expensive. But here's to hoping we spend well!
Exactly..more money than you've ever had before.. I would worry about how that money gets spent if the deal goes through...I hear your board of directors have voted to buy Bentleys and fur coats with the money, and build a new stadium if there is any left over
Did rodgers sign Joe Allen for Swansea...? ?If so, anyone else hoping that Brendan had a profit clause in his contract that would see him financially benefit from buying Allen... PS - obviously, there would be a conflict of interest there, plus I suspect any such agreement no longer exists since his move to the reds.
He's been brought through their youth system and had his debut under Martinez. £7m for Rodgers is good, Chelsea paid double that for AVB and we know which of the 2 performed better in the premier league last season when you look at the clubs they managed. £15m sounds expensive but he is 22, he has established himself in the premier league (the toughest league in the world) and at international level - £15m is the going rate for a half decent premier league midfielder nowadays so for a team at our level the funds are pretty meh, I am glad the money has gone to Swansea though... When you look at premier league midfielders and their transfer funds I think it's a good deal (esp. as his ages will be less than these players) Anderson - £20m Henderson - £16m Milner - £26m Aqualiani - £20m Hazard - £32m Zhirkov - £18m
Came through our system. Back in our first season in League 1 I overheard our chairman talking about him. Jenkins said Brian Flynn had identified him as having the potential to be World class. It was either at the end of that season or the beginning of the next one that we saw him make a few substitute appearances as a 16 year old under Martinez. You could see straight away he was industrious (very, very energetic) and was keen to get on the ball. He upped the tempo every time he came on, got stuck in, passed the ball well.....but what I really liked about him was his self belief. As a 16 year old he would bust a gut to get to the final third and get a shot in, tried the killer ball. That's unusual I think, most of the kids I've seen are content to leave those responsibilities to the seniors. You've got a very good, reliable, player....and we've got a good price, it seems.
Terror, it would seem you are a gent among fools! I think the Allen deal could benefit both clubs if it does indeed go through!
The clause was put in there for a reason and your club have got what they would have wanted to get for him should he move on. Not very nice to lose players you would prefer to keep but we've been through this ourselves and getting the right fee does cushion it.
And on that note, £15m seems right... we haven't overspent on it and Swansea have got a record fee (a massive £13m more than the record fee) - I would rather us pay £15m for him now then go through the rigmarole of him handing in a transfer request and the deal leaving a bad taste in anyones mouth, hopefully this way he can go back to the liberty and get a good reception
Allen will definitely get a good reception from our fans wherever he goes. He's a jack through and through and has thoroughly earnt his chance to play in the big time. Good luck Joe and thankfully we didn't end up losing him either on the cheap or for free in a few years. Now, onto survival to reinforce why it was the correct decision (not that we have one) to sell.
I hope you lot keep playing the same way and stay up, it's great that passing football is on top in the PL at the moment and that Swansea and Norwich stayed up while ugly footy like Blackburn and Wolves got relegated.
The last time Liverpool payed over the odds for a player was.......... Carroll. Be careful how you mock swansea, they may just do what Newcastle did and finish above you
