The news comes as manager Mark Hughes looks to improve his sides leaky defence for next season, with the Hoops shipping an average of two goals a game last term, as they finished just above the relegation zone. Hughes has already strengthened the backline with deals for England international goalkeeper Robert Green and the experienced Ryan Nelsen, while talented Brazil defender Fabio has arrived on a season-long loan from Manchester United. But QPR are not stopping there, and want to improve their left-back options by snapping up one of Gabriel Heinze or Kieran Richardson. ichardson is the preferred target, and has been told he can leave Sunderland for £2 million, but QPR face signifcant competition from West Ham for his signature, and are readying alternatives. Blackburn full-back Martin Olsson is one long-term option, but Hughes is leaning towards Roma's vastly experienced former Argentina defender Gabriel Heinze - who can also play centre back. Heinze has been told he can leave Roma for a nominal fee this summer by new coach Zdenek Zeman, and QPR have opened talks with his representatives over a one-year deal. QPR have also shown an interest in free agent Poland international Sebastian Boenisch, but he is close to securing a move to Stoke City.
Its a typical link, 95% of players linked with us are either in their mid 30s looking for one last pay day or underachieving and overpaid. Get Olsson in or we will then be looking at losing Hill, Heinze, Fabio and Nelson next season and will have to rebuild the defence yet again.
Would not worry about these names as we are being linked to everyone. MH said he will do his stuff quietly and i think he will. Players will come in but i doubt we will know until the last minute.
If Heinze is still anywhere near his Man U level I would snap him up. But thats an if. Imo Olsson would be a good option - another up and coming player.
We supposedly did all our business early and now the media are picking holes in our side by drawing attention to our weakest positions, MH saying the balance of the squad isn't right....with a week and a half to go until kick off!
Heinz is 57 much younger than me and I am playing two full charity matches this Sunday ... And I have red Nike boots that look like slippers. No one is too old
The law says that football boots should be 1 colour, Black. They should have white stripes and anyone wearing red boots needs to be **** hot or is going to get hacked down at every chance..... Good luck with your games DT !!
