The boss will address the media at Melwood ahead of the second leg of Liverpool's Europa League third-round qualifier against FC Gomel on Thursday night.

The Reds will take a 1-0 lead into their first Anfield game of the 2012-13 campaign after Stewart Downing fired them ahead in Belarus last week.

If any of you that subscribe would be so kind as to give us the news as it happens that would be great. Hope we get some info on any new signings.

    **sigh**

Wonder what the media will twist his words in to this time.

"Agger is a top player and we have no intention of selling him"

"EXCLUSIVE - Agger for sale but only for the right price"

    That's my guess.

Normally this bloke is spot on. And there are quotes from rodgers on there. https://twitter.com/BenSmithBBC

"Every player has his price. Daniel is a top player, loves the club. But you can never say never" is a worrying quote.

The conference isn't working on the LFC website but there's some quotes from Ben Smith who is apparently there.

Brendan Rodgers confirms there was genuine interest from other clubs in Luis Suarez. 'I saw the fax come in.'

    Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC
Rodgers confirms #LFC have been in talks with Craig Bellamy and Cardiff about him returning to Wales.

Rodgers on Agger: 'Every player has his price. Daniel is a top player, loves the club. But you can never say never.'

    Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC
Brendan Rodgers: 'the intention is to bring in a few more players. I'd love them to be here sooner rather than later.'

    Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC
Brendan Rodgers: 'to walk out at Anfield for my first game will be an incredible privilege, but my focus will be to win.'

You bitch <laugh> its sound mate cheers <ok>

Will be gutted if Agger leaves I genuinely think he loves it at Anfield but we are obviously inviting further bids now. If he does go I think it could define BRs Anfield stay as in he will absolutely have to get any replacement signing spot on. He's the most likely of our current centre backs to be able to settle straight into BRs system as well so if we are going to sell we absolutely have to ensure we get top dollar and then spend it wisely.

  12. Not at all. you wouldn't take £1m but you would take £100m for Agger. There is a point inbetween somewhere <ok>

Problem is, we all know how crap we seem to be at negotiation. Knowing us we'll end up selling Agger for £15m and buying Joe Allen for £20m. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

"Top centre-halves are at a premium," Rodgers, speaking before Thursday's Europa League qualifier against FC Gomel, said. "Take Thiago Silva, he left AC Milan to go to Paris St Germain for £40m.
So it has to be a big valuation.

"Daniel is one of the leading players in European football at centre-half. Is he a player I want to lose? No he's not. But like any club, if an offer comes in that is in the best interests of the club, of course you have to look at it.

"From a football perspective, do I want to lose Daniel Agger? Not really. He can be a really pivotal player for me, he understands how I want to work. But I am a realist. And the reality is that if a club comes in with a massive bid then the club may have to look at it. You can never say never."

Bellamy looks more certain to leave Liverpool with Rodgers having given the Welshman permission to move closer to his family in Cardiff. When asked if Bellamy would join Cardiff, Rodgers added: "I would think so. I had a really good chat with Craig when I first arrived here.

"He is not one that can play every week, he is 33, coming towards the final years of his career and his family is still in Cardiff. He has made a massive commitment to come here, lived on his own.

"He has loved the club, loved playing for the club. But I believe that at the end of last season he had already made his decision.

"I obviously respect that. What is so important is a player's happiness. Craig's family is not here, they are down in Cardiff. Unless a player is happy you don't get the maximum of them.

"And [Cardiff] is probably where he will end up. If he does end up there, we wish him the very best. He will still be a Liverpool supporter, it is not for football reasons that he is leaving but for family."

Rodgers is working hard to strengthen his side and remains hopeful of tying up a deal for Swansea midfielder Joe Allen.

"We need to improve the squad, there is no question about that. But it is a little bit more complex than many people realise," he said.

"The intention is to bring in a few more players yet. I would love them to be in here sooner rather than later. But the most important thing is that they are here by the end of August. Then we know the group we are working with through until January at least.

"I know I need to bring in a number of players, just to replace the ones that have left. But this is a club that people want to be at, so hopefully a number of those will come in over the next couple of weeks."

The problem is the point at which I would sell and that where the club will are too far apart.

  18. That's not a problem. If their valuation is lower than ours, the players stays put. Simple <ok>

No-one is bigger than the club, everyone can be replaced. Coates can fit straight in, as we'll be just as crap this season :)

If we are going to rebuild, lets do it properly, and get the average age of the team down, and if someone wants to offer us silly money for someone who is half the season on the treatment table, then so be it. Yes he is immense, but we are going to be rubbish this season anyway, let us embrace our rubbishness and get a squad that can be winning stuff for the next 8 years.

I've always liked the thought of having Coates becoming a key defender for us, as long as Skrtel and Agger are there he is going to be kept out of the starting 11.

I have read people saying that if we sell Agger, we should get the next Sammi. I think we already have him....Seb Coates. <ok>
