Thanks, Guru. I don't know much about him. Where does he play? How old is he? Unless he's still quite young, that inconsistency sounds worrying to me.
I remember when he played for Arsenal (not that I remember him actually playing), and Wiki says he's only 21. Hopefully Guru can offer a decent insight.
We were reported as being interested back in April. That valuation seems a tad on the high side. http://www.greenun24.co.uk/ipswich-town/transfer_news_jay_emmanuel_thomas_is_not_for_sale_says_ipswich_town_boss_paul_jewell_1_1361787
No Probs Captain, He can play anywhere for being a main striker to playing out wide on both sides, or even sitting just off a striker, he is 21 and i believe when he first began life at the Arsenal academy he was a defender but was then turned into a more attacking player. I would say he is one of our(or perhaps even most) skillful players thats without doubt, has a really powerful shot, i think last season he hit the woodwork about 9 nine times from about 25 yards out so he definately likes a shot at goal and was unlucky. The down sides to him is the inconsistenty, when his mind is on the game he will single handedly win games in the premiership without doubt, BUT when his mind isn't entirely focused he is a liability defensively if your backs are against the wall. He is a link which shows his good sides, he is the big number 9 who sets the 1st up and scores the last 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY-jjLqJKqo
Looks like he's got a strong left foot. Not much keen on the younger players with attitude problems- becoming a top player is as much about mentality as it is skill. Would have to weigh up his contribution against potential unsettling effect on team- based on what I've seen- don't think he is the right type of player for Fulham. He looks handy, but not good enough to make up for shortcomings.
After Wolves turned down Sunderland's £12m bid, Fletcher has apparently handed in a transfer request.
Somehow related, Stoke have signed Michael Kightly. I was going to suggest he would've been good for us, but he's 26, which is about 6 years older than I thought he was! I remember when he looked like the next big thing...
Gary Hooper We are indeed now reported as having an interest in Hooper who is valued (sic) much the same as Rhodes - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2185677/Fulham-keen-Celtics-Gary-Hooper.html He was scoring pretty much at will for Scunthorpe before continuing in the same vein in the SPL. Not as prolific as Stokes but probably the better all round player of the two. What do you reckon Bandit?
I'm gonna let that one slip I actually rate Hooper and would probably take him over Rhodes. SPL is just above the League One level and Hooper has proven himself in both the SPL and the Championship. Southampton had a £7m bid turned down in January, so I don't know how high we would be willing to go.
Isn't Hooper more prolific? Or am I missing an in-joke? I might be more tempted by Hooper over Rhodes, but I wouldn't go over £7m. Huddersfield are over-pricing Rhodes and I think it's getting near to the point where we bail.
Romelu Lukaku's agent has confirmed that his client won't be joining Fulham this season. Given our mixed feelings around loan signings, I am guessing not many will be too bothered by that. It does make the signing of a striker (be it Rhodes, Hooper or whomever) even more of a priority.
Huddersfield are playing a dangerous game with Rhodes, there is nothing to suggest that Rhodes can deliver in the Championship. For example, Trotta went to Wycombe and smashed in the goals yet found it very tough with Watford in the Championship. If Rhodes isn't in double figures by Christmas then his value is going to plummet.
The in-joke is that 58 thinks Anthony Stokes is the best thing since sliced bread Not really bothered by Lukaku, but only if we get Hooper or to a push, Rhodes.
And now Wolves turn down a £9m bid from West Ham for Jarvis - http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7979708/
Not surprisingly, given he wasn't at the Cottage yesterday never mind actually playing, the Dempsey story rumbles on. More worrying in this article are the suggested replcements - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfers-clint-dempsey-dropped-1252329?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter N'Gog I just can't believe - he has been awful and couldn't hit the proverbial barn door or for that matter burst the equally proverbial wet paper bag. Richardson is kind of okay but I just can't work up any enthusiasm. Never heard of the other lad. Okay it's pretty clear that Dempsey will not be playing against Norwich and I can't buy into the injury thing this long, so in all probability he's off. In which case the story is simply a rehash of what's around and the usual poor journalism but, even if so, where did they drag up those names from? Why not the usual Bentley types? That's more worrying !!
Man City have paid Everton £12m rising to £17m for Rodwell. Alegedly only half of the money will be available for new signings though, so at least that rules them out of coming for Dempsey .. doesn't it?
Clint Dempsey is not in the USA squad to play Mexico on Wednesday. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Mens-National-Team/2012/08/Klinsmann-Names-Roster-for-Aug-15-Friendly-Against-Mexico.aspx PS Neither is Eddie Johnson
