Interesting news from Tony Barrett in his piece for the times. He mentions that Liverpool are interested in Tello, Affellay, Sahin on loan but also one of either Walcott or Johnson.

In addition, he says that both Rodgers and Agger are not interested in a move, but it appears that Ayre is. If this is the case, I would be extremely annoyed. It's like having Purslow back - Ayre and Purslow did some great work in terms of the improving our revenue streams but they should seriously stay out of the footballing decisions.

Well if this is correct and Rodgers and Agger are not interested then I think we can safely
say Agger will be at Anfield for the coming season at least.

Rodgers has come out and said that Agger is a top player but every place has his price. Never say never ...

    Quite worrying ...

Rodgers said a very similar thing regarding Andy Carroll recently aswell.

Never say never,I agree. But if Rodgers and more importantly Agger don't

want this then it won't happen.

I'm not concerned about this story at all

I hate the way Barca do business. Here's Iniesta talking about Song.

"He's a prodigy," Iniesta is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"I don't know how many years he's been playing but he isn't a discovery from yesterday.

"He's a good player and I've seen in a couple of publications that he could be joining our team.”

The Barcelona playmaker is unsure as to whether a move will materialise, but is confident Song has the ability to shine at Camp Nou.

Iniesta continued: "I don't know if that would be the case but if he comes here we'll welcome him the best we can.

"If he comes here it's because he has the ability to play here, no doubt."

They are vile when it comes to courting new players. If that was Lucas they were talking about, I would be livid.

It's not like they need to either.

I guess they make up for not being loaded by selling the dream of playing for Barca really well.

  9. And so, Carroll is almost twice the player (and he is in actual size!) Suarez is!

  10. If true, my opinion of Ayre woud plummet, however I suspect it is paper talk <ok>

  11. I don't see that as worrying, I see that as sensible. We sold Torres, who we expected not to be sold, for £50m, I would imagine most were happy with that deal, even when ignoring the players **** attitude at the end!

If someone offered us £1m for Agger, we would obviously tell them where to go. If someone offered us £100m, we would snap their hand off. Somewhere inbetween there is a meeting point. Hence, every player has their price <ok>

We could have bought two and a half Suarez for the price of a Torres!

I'm not worried by Rodger's comments at all really. Just saying if anyone he wants to keep is going to be sold then it is going to be for a price that they are not worth in his eyes.

If he is selling players for what he thinks they are not worth, I would be worried.<ok>

  15. Absolutely. Whether people like it or not, every player DOES have a price. IMO, the players are small cogs that make up sections (partnerships) of the machine (team). If selling one of those cogs enables improvements to the machine so long as each section remains solid, then I don't see the problem.

  16. I agree with that. We should have a valuation, a selling price and a negotiation price. If it is a player we do not want to lose then it should be aiming for at least the selling price and quoting the negotiation price from day one.

Realistically, I think Agger is worth about £22m.
Our selling price should be about £28m-£30m.
Day one negotiations price should be £35m!

Edit: I mis-read that comment by Tyran. I read it as selling players for what they ARE worth. I think we should be aiming to get more <ok>

    <laugh>

If we can squeeze every little penny we can like we did with Torres, then yes. In my eyes if Torres had went for any less than £50m, I would have been disappointed.
