#WatfordFC should be 3-0 up as Forsyth picks out Hodson unmarked at the far post 4 yards out but he leathers it into the outside of the post
#WatfordFC have lined up in a 3-4-1-2 formation this evening and it's working well. Hodson and Forsyth wing backs. Mingoia behind front 2
A third for #watfordfc on 29 mins. Connor Smith racing clear onto Piero Mingoia's pass to catch Gillingham on the break
HT here at Priestfield: #watfordfc 3-0. Not all 1-way traffic but impressive at times. 2 for Vydra, Smith with other. 3 gd chances for Gills Fans of #watfordfc - Dychey is sat in the stands at Sixfields watching Northampton v West Ham. Wonder if Boothroyd will give him a job?!
Hodson and Pudil as wing backs, with Eustace eventually dropping back to be the third centre back? I can see that working out.
Stoppage here as #watfordfc sub Hamilton-Forbes is pole-axed after a horrible late lunge by Gills' Tom Flanagan. Just getting to his feet...
Anya, Iwelumo & Whichelow in #watfordfc front 3. Forsyth, SHF, Jenkins, Hodson midfield 4, still Thompson, Bennett, Tumwa back 3. Bond GK Big Chris in the shop window?
What sort of team did Gillingham play? They must be disappointed to lose to essentially our 2nd string if it was their first team.
To quote their website: "A much-changed Gillingham line-up named by manager Martin Allen, which included new signing striker Deon Burton who had joined the club earlier in the day, were worryingly opened up far too frequently by the classy visitors in the first 45 minutes. Just four players from the team that beat Charlton Athletic on Saturday remained, the latest skipper Joe Martin, Tom Flanagan, Callum Davies who started the game in an unfamiliar defensive midfield role and Charlie Lee. " Not really informative regarding their line up, but I do like the reference to us as 'classy visitors'.
Some will be coming in, but Zola already said that the squad is too big and it would be unfair on some players who will not get to play... plus it's just no efficient to have so many. So I'd expect some of the younger or not so great players to be going out on loan or leaving.
I'm glad someone else remembers him saying that - was going crazy trying unsuccessfully to find the quote on-line.
BB http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...3813.Zola_on_embargo__new_signings_and_Smith/ Zola said: “I am sure some players will go because we do not want to keep players that are not playing. The players want to play and they need to play and that is totally fair. “We will see because we cannot keep a squad of 30 players so we will try to reduce the size. “The performance level in the training sessions would not be as good if we had a very big squad as well, so we will evaluate the situation because we do not want unhappy people here. We will consider the situation.”
