The 800m lad is quite young. Not sure of Grabarz's age. Now we have surpassed the Beijing total our next target should be 3rd in the medal table. Tough ask, it's going to be tooth and nail against Russia and possibly South Korea (i'm assuming they are quite good at Taekwondo?), especially now that we've finished most of our best events. However, we might squeeze a few more golds in equestrian, sailing and boxing. I think Kerri Anne Payne must also have a chance, and big Mo if he runs the 5000m. I think we might also have a shout in BMX, but i'm unsure how great a chance it is.
Grabarz is 24 I think? I'd be surprised if we didn't finish 3rd in the overall table though, reckon we've got another 5/6 Golds in us and can't see Russia or South Korea catching up the ten plus
They reckon we have the best BMX biker in the ladies section, but a crash can change all of that. Our mens hockey team are in the semis after drawing 1.1 with Spain. We should finish third in the table though. On a side issue, I enjoyed the coverage of boxing in Beijing because they had a running score on the screen...so you could see as each shot landed. They seem to have dropped that which is a pity.
I think that is more of a change in the way that scoring is done rather than a broadcasting decision.
Tom Daley has the 10m individual platform also, he is the former World and current European champion.
The only problem with being European champion is that China isn't in Europe... (to be fair, Tom has a chance, but he'll need to have the competition of his life).
Interestingly, Betfair have odds for most golds other than US and China. We're favourites at, er.. 1/100. Either take stock in that, as they'll have done some calculations involving odds of individual events, or call it bookie bullshit and put some money on Russia at 31/2 or South Korea at 57.
That did occur to me but hey, he's beaten them before. Also there are two dressage medals left, don't know anything about it but I'm guessing we have a chance in that. Can't believe there's only five days left
Rightly so. I'm still trying to figure out How Anthony Joshua only won the second round by two points last night...
So glad we have athletes like Chris Hoy. No egos, and acknowledging the support he's rightfully earned.
I wonder if there's a gif of him doing the raise the roof dance (modelled by the wonderful Miss Palin) please log in to view this image
I'm gonna be gutted when these are over. Going into the Olympics I didn't care at all, I was a massive cynic but I've been hooked from the start.
