Absolutely phenomenal stuff from Team GB.

Slow start, wonderful 3 days, steady as we go on, so many brilliant performances, and so much pride, people taking silvers, in tears cos thy think they've let us all down (they haven't, not one bit).

As an ex-pat, as an aside from the games, some of the street events have been great as a reminder to me about some of the wonderful things in our country, the buildings around Whitehall etc, the parks, some wonderful waterways, the greenery & the rain!

Booked an unplanned jaunt home, via London, on the back of it, it's just been a fantastically ran & competed tournament, not just Team GB, some awesome displays.

My highlight was Wiggins, under all that pressure, looked like he had another 50km in the tank, loved seeing Ainslee get his gold, having met him last year, another Brit record breaker, but some other fantastic displays, all over the sports, too many to list!

8 less golds than the States, with a tiny fraction of population & budget, and we didn't need to be flash with the locations, they were great enough on their own.

At least for a couple of weeks the Great' in 'Great Britain' has seemed a bit less of a piss-taking irony, now stroll on Saturday, Villa Park and footy is back.

    A proud Brit in Spain!

I wonder how the BNP and EDL supporters are feeling about the great diversity of ethnic origins that are showing great pride and endevour in representing our nation?

Aye, might take in a lower league match on the Sat, always good banter, I'm staying near South Wimbledon so dunno who the local team is!

    AFC Wimbledon, maybe??

I know it's near Chelsea & Fulham, but that's pointless, wanna hit a small club.

Bromley (Lower, lower, lower league) wouldn't be that hard to get to from Victoria, went with my old man this season was a decent day out. Wimbledon might be the best bet though.

Make sense if the get Knott back on loan as well.

That said, it don't have to be around that area, we can go somewhere close to the nights action, although my pal lives in Bromley, so that might work.

Will wait till nearer and scout the fixtures!

Hope Knott's in league 1 if not the championship this season! Should be sending him and Noble to Carlisle. They love us.

Aye, but every player we send there goes on to failure.

    Sad, but true.

Derby is the club to send young lads to if we can, although Noble didn't work out, think young Clough will teach some good ****.

Mushy. AS many of you know, I went in to the games completely nonplussed about it all and if I'm honest, all the hype for months after month was actually turning me off.

However, fickle as **** as I am (lol) once I watched that amazing opening ceremony I was hooked and have spent as much time as possible tuning in. Absolutely fantastic to be the 3rd best nation (and some way out from 4th) considering we have a population of some 62m compared to the US at 315m and China at 1.3bn.

I have bubbled like a lass at times and roared myself hoarse but I feel an immense pride at our athletes achievements - all colours of medal and all participants - and think whatever happens now, this has been a privilege to watch. Actually ashamed of myself for not buying into it from way back. Best results for over 100 years. Incredible stuff.

And you know what? It aint over yet.

Nice post mate, and you know the 100 years ago **** was a far less competitive event, less sports, less nations etc.

Far as I'm concerned, Beijing WAS the record, now this is, and how fitting it was London.

Also, if Ennis wants her butt slapped, my lass is away for a week from Thursday ;)

Must admit I wasnt particularly looking forward to it but have found myself immersed in sports I never was or thought i would be interested in, It has been an absolute pleasure to watch ALL of our athletes give everything they have. A magnificent achievement. The support, as expected, has also been truly magnificent.

I wasn't bothered about the Lympics at all during the build up.
I was sick of the sight and sound of Boris Johnson.

The opening ceremony bored me ****less.

On the beginning of the games, I was pissed off at the huge swathes of empty seats. (corporate purchases by all accounts!)

Then of course started watching one event, then another, then another.
The magnificent effort put in by our athletes whether they won a medal or not, sent a huge burst of pride through me.
Some of our medal winners have been outstanding.

Bloody hell don't actually think I have missed much on the 60 odd BBC channels.
Had the projector set up for the footy and watching other sports on the TV. :p

Got to agree with Cest (Again! It wont last :p) Our medal haul is ****ing brilliant.
Would have been more if they hadn't removed the right to have more than one person from the same country in the Cycling events! (How the **** are they allowed to do that, yet the Athletics and Swimming events have multiple athletes from the same country? Oh yeah we don't dominate them. :p)
