So what, you should just get rid of all the rules?

If it wins Team GB more medals I'd support it

That sprint lane one, certainly. It's anti-competitive.

Meares is also a utter twat, she never calls pendleton by her name(unless she did today may have missed it). She usually calls pendleton she or it.

Pity that Vicky ended with a silver but she was very gracious in defeat. Classy lady!!

Sir Hoy managing a sixth win was superb and he did it the hard way as well.

Whether the rules are right or wrong doesn't matter. You have to stay within them until they change. If Anna Meares had done the same thing we wouldn't be complaining (although, as I saw it in the second run she did go over the line).

Sir Chris Hoy you legend. 6 gold medals is a hell of an achievement. He is in tears - what a moment for him.

He has shown just how much it means to him and no amount of money I guess can replicate his feelings right now.

Just watched the replay of that second race. Meares definitely crosses the line on three occasions in the final sprint. So no idea about that one. Maybe it only matters if you're side by side, or perhaps the commissaires couldn't be arsed to tell everybody to stop celebrating/crying and get back on the track again...

I think if there was anything in it, someone at the BBC would have picked up on it.

Nobody picked up on the first one until the commissaires started looking at it...

GB are only 8 golds behind USA! Astonishing when you compare the size of the 2 countries. London 2012 could not have gone any better so far. I am so glad I am witnessing this and I won't forget this in a hurry! I'm not the most patriotic of Brits but when I saw scenes like Chris Hoy in tears after becoming the most successful British Olympian ever my emotions were all over the place and I can't ever remember being more proud to be British than I am today.

All this winning really makes me want to learn to ride a bike or take up rowing. Pity this couldn't have happened 10 years ago...

My nephew has pretty much given up windsurfing, and his kit is mine to borrow [I keep asking if it's OK to use, and the last time he shouted, YESSSS, now stop asking..!] and I've got a shorty set and a longy too from dinghy sailing, so I've got sod all excuse, except that I'd like to take up canoeing, I think.

Perhaps I should stop thinking and just do it..?
