Day 11 dawns. Good gold medal chances with Pendleton, Hoy and the Brownlwee brothers in the Triathlon.
Don't forget we also have medal chances for Laura Trott in the Omnium, Robbie Grabarz in the high jump, Nick Dempsey in windsurfing and the Dressage team.
Poor efforts in the stadium so far this morning. Lot's of injuies and Idowu fails to qualify. Let's hope for better news from the cycling and dressage!
Can't believe the carnage in the men's 110m Hurdles. In every heat, there were runners falling over everywhere. China's hero, Liu Xiang fell at his first hurdle. Makes me think they set the hurdles up incorrectly. They've done it before.
Was wondering the same thing TSS. Uncommon for more than an odd fall even in heats. Must have been at least six this morning.
Watching the transitions in the triathlon remind me of some 70's game show. Almost expected Bruce Forsyth to pop up. Bad news continues, Laura Trott down to second in Omnium
Yep, usually, you get one or two guys hit a hurdle badly, which can put them out of their stride enough to stop them or slow them down dramatically. But we've had 3 people in one heat on the floor after actually falling over their hurdles, and then that total was repeated over the next few heats. There was a mid-point [around 40m] in one heat where every single hurdle, across the lanes, went over. That's unprecedented. I've never seen such stuff before, in that event.
BTW, I keep coming down this thread and seeing those three words above, and I've suddenly realised why they annoy me. 18 Golds, 11 Silver, 11 Bronze, with several days to go. If that's bad news, keep it coming.
Today has mostly been bad news. Three athletes crocked, one of whom had a good shot at a medal. Still, long way to go...
I wouldn't term anything as bad news, with the 10 days the UK Olympic team has just had. Yes, there have been a few unfortunates, but really. Bad news is when Britain goes to the Olympics with high hopes and comes away with 1 medal. That's bad news, because something has clearly gone wrong. On a day of bad news, Chris Hoy powered his way through his Keirin heat, Laura Trott is still favourite to get a Gold, The Brownlee brothers are doing well in their Triathlon. I could very easily go on with good news. EDIT: This'll cheer you up, WS: Aussies Only Show Their Swimming Events
