Ha, I know a guy exactly like this, he keeps banging on about the how terrible Britain/the royal family are and occasionally branches off into 9/11 conspiracyism and V for Vendetta style revolution stuff. I just troll him with stuff about Illuminati and crap like that. Never realised he was copying Morrissey until now though.

Indeed a joyless person, wallowing in an attitude from generations past. I doubt if he's that interested in the Olympics anyway. There's no danger of, or comparison to a Nazi-Germany. He's entitled to his opinion, but it's complete and utter twaddle.

Morrissey has got his own opinion and I respect it as we live in a democrated society, but he is talking a load of bollocks.

Well, I'm not keen on the Monarchy system, but that has nothing to do with loving the country of your birth, and wanting to see success in the Olympics.

Same here, but how on Earth has he got the impression that they're running some sort of tyrannical dictatorship? They don't do anything!

Of course and everyone is entitled to their opinion (and I am definitely not starting an argument on it), but there is a difference between not agreeing with it, and banging on at every opportunity. I wasn't that bothered about the Jubilee stuff so I didn't watch most of it. Anyway, perhaps Mr Morrissey is just being deliberately controversial.

Some people object to anything that is enjoyed by the majority as I think they secretly despise the 'common man' even whilst ostensibly supporting them.

Morrisey loses whatever argument he is having by default. He has violated Godwins second law.

I suppose if I look at his opinion from his angle, then every time he hears the National Anthem being sung, it reinforces the Queen's hold on being the symbolic figurehead of the country. The thought actually crossed my mind, during a couple of times it was sung, because it is a pledge of alliegance to the Royal Family, NOT the Country. And if you are anti-monarchist, as I am, you don't see the Queen as the Symbol of the Nation, a la Britannia.

But this is a celebration, not a political stance, so I'm intelligent enough to separate true tyranny and political systems from a Worldwide sporting event, as I'm sure the vast majority of the GB public are. Perhaps Morrisey has a low opinion of the smartness of the great British public..? Did anyone not tell him that Russia, China, Cuba, etc... are also taking part..?

However, I defend his right to his opinion.

Anthony Joshua's quarter final fight is on the red button right now. He's dominating.

Guaranteed Bronze for Joshua. Hopefully he can get to the final and guarantee himself a Silver with a chance of Gold.

Tell you what, our boxers are none too shabby. They're doing very well indeed. Two guaranteed bronzes [two bronzes are awarded in boxing] before they even have their next round bouts.

Yeah, I thought he had an unfortunate name, given the circumstances.

Not quite your normal sharp wit, TSS...

Also on funny Olympic names, the female hurdle racer who fell and couldn't finish has one of those names you couldn't make up.

Yeah but that only works well if you say it in an Australian accent.
