Like Swarbs said, lots of the Liverpool fans on here can actually see the wood from the trees, are realistic, and don't get offended easily. I was just pointing out that we all heard the same " United are doomed" "We'll finish above Spurs" "Carroll will come good" "United haven't signed anyone decent" "Our manager will be given all the time he needs" "Our midfield is better than United's" stuff before... Almost identical to what a portion of Liverpool fans are coming out with again this summer. Whether these guys actually believe this or just pray it happens, I'm not sure.
Well I'll nail my colours to the mast then. Since finishing second to you a few seasons back it's been one unmitigated disaster after another, and when we escaped administration by the skin of our teeth (and seeing what happened to Rangers NOBODY is too big to crash) several of us old 606 posters have been preaching caution and patience. I wasn't against Kenny as a caretaker, but once he'd been given over £100m to spend it didn't make sense to sack him now. Rodgers seems okay in what he's trying to (eventually) do - I wanted Martinez when they were talking about getting rid of Roy (rightly) - but although pass-and-move is the badge of all our great teams, and that is, in essence, the same as this tikka-takka or whatever, it's not a switch you can flick on and just start playing it. Four years AT LEAST before we challenge for the league, but probably nearer ten. Listen, if the roles were reversed I'd take the piss out of you, but I assure that the overwhelming majority of Liverpool fans of my acquaitance, whilst not as fussy about the style of play as some of us, are realistic about our status and immediate future. If you need to exagerate the claims of Liverpool supporters in general by highlighting a few of our more over-optimistic followers then maybe I'm being more pessimistic than I need to be.
MFG and KPR went the most OTT. Page moss and Red were bad enough, although in a far less demented way. I was banned from their board for daring to disagree with the **** they all talked. I think last year if you didn't agree Carrick was **** and had played zero part in the medals he'd won it was an instant ban.

Bit of a bold statement that. It's the equivalent of me saying you are bricking it because you think you'll get relegated and Cardiff will win the championship. Utter nonsense in other words.
To be honest I'm more worried about Newcastle this season, Liverpool will take a while to rebuild (a few seasons, and that's only if things go to plan) but Newcastle have a very settled squad and Amalfitano (possibly Debuchy as well) will be a great addition, they could be dangerous.
