Would be decent on a Free. Centre-mid, but can play out wide. Would like to see us get Liam Lawrence on the cheap - surely bringing him in on the cheap available to bring off the bench has got to be a better option than having someone like Devitt on the bench (seeing as we're short on wingers)? Elmohamady, Lawrence, Aluko & Stewart to fight it out for the 2 starting wing places, with the other 2 making up a strong bench... we lacked options from the bench last year, lets not do the same again this year.
They have just said on Blunderside that we are not following up our interest on Fotheringham. So that's another one put to bed.
I agree with you that we need 2 more wingers. But not Lawrence. Josh King was just getting going when the season ended and i dont see him having a future at O.T. We could use Dudgeon as wide left midfield as IMO he would cover Dawson down the left hand side.
Stewart prefers to run at defenders, as does Aluko, as Bruce wants someone who can give something different, Lawrence is the type who just likes to whip the ball in. 6 assists at a poor Pompey, then another 5 assists on loan at Cardiff prove he can provide where ever he's at, and on the cheap is worth having in the squad, in my opinion. Last season Koren was our top 'assister' with 7 assists, Cairney the next with 5 - I'd welcome an extra 11 assists in the squad for a small fee.
Well i accept "on the cheap" Lawrence would do a good job for one season. I was just thinking maybe we have an option already at the club. It annoys me that we dont use Dudges long throw but then again he does have to play. Looking around i dont see many quality wingers available so King and Lawrence it is then.
I can see the point that Dazzar made thats all. Looking around now dont see many wingers i would like here. Like Faye, Lawrence is a cheap one year option. LL is Good for 20 mins or so off the bench. As for Gerrard,, Udders is about perfect for him. Close - ish to where he lives.
