Take a look at the comments posted under the article by West Ham fans. I have a feeling this would really be a stand-out signing if it happens. Come on Del, close the deal and get him on board!!

Must admit Baldock has been a grower on me, at first I wasn't convinced but the more I read about him the more I think we have a potential Championship top scorer on the way to us!

This would be an excellent signing, but it is like waiting for Christmas with all these rumours to come true, here's the latest one

Bristol City to complete the signing of Sam Baldock on Tuesday. They're also going to confirm the capture of Akos Buszaky on a free transfer. It was rumoured that the deal fell through but ongoing talks have put the deal back on. A Centre Back is also likely to sign on Wednesday

You can bet his agent will be touting Baldock's name around other clubs (like Charlton, Watford or Brighton) to force a bidding competition for his services (i.e higher wages)
At least at the moment we are the only club prepared to pay the transfer fee

hammers fans rate him very highly as do man city fans regards cunningham.

The club is heading in the right direction under the Lansdowns with a very astute young manger in Del boy.

I wasn't all that impressed with Baldock when I've watched him, but if McInnes could get the best out of him all the time he'd find the net with ease. Him and Pitman at the top of their games would be devastating.

Lots of rumours on twatter saying Baldock has turned us down to sign for Charlton. I thought that Chris Powell stated the other day, that they have not put a bid in for him.

If we fail for him, I would like to try for Reading's LaFondre.

Both would come with a hefty tag.

He would choose Charlton because no upheaval Red Robin. But at the moment it's just twitter rumours so we will see. It's just if Reading will deal on Hunt, no doubt they would deal on LaFondre scored loads when linked up with Taylor for Rotherham. And scored at this level fast and nippy like Baldock. Also better ratio <ok>

Would imagine jackson would cost a bit, but no more than what we would of been paying for Baldock (eventually that is) as for Cox, he is a unused player that wants football, 1 million should see him go, and with forest looking at him, we can steal another player from under there noses

I know La Fondre is not mentioned, but cost them £350,000 but look at his scoring ratio on Wiki compared to the others. Just think they might do a deal on someone they used as a sub

Just looked at their career records on Wikipedia.
    Baldock 23 yrs 5ft-7ins
125 matches 38 goals = 30% or just less than 1 goal in 3 games
    Le Fondre 25 yrs 5ft-10ins
    294 matches 122 goals = 41% or a goal every 2.5 games.
For Reading alone 32 matches and 12 goals = 37.5% or just better than 1 in 3.

If DMc is chasing Baldock it's because he thinks he's the best for us OR because most of the fee would not be paid, just used to cancel out what WHam owe us for Maynard.
On career recored alone and never having seen either play except for bits of video, Le Fondre seems a better choice.

The issue with the Maynard cash makes it good business for City AND West Ham

100% agree with you, the deal would suit both clubs. And these are only twitter rumours that he is off to Charlton. From what I have read Charlton don't have the money to pay for this transfer, and Chris Powell has said no offer has been put in.

Baldock would at the moment be my first choice. I only used La Fondre as an example simply because we were rumoured for Noel Hunt from a club that only used La Fondre as a sub.

There are still bargains out there so I trust Del to get someone in the positions that he feels we need.

The same could be said with Gerrard, if he goes to Leicester we just look at the next man on the list <ok>
