The League One Team of the Year:

    Davis (Saints)

    Calderon (Brighton)
    Harding (Saints)
    Greer (Brighton)
    Fonte (Saints)

    Pilkington (Huddersfield)
    Bennett (Brighton)
    Lallana (Saints)
    Oxlade-Chamberlain (Saints)

    Mackail-Smith (Peterborough)
    Wright-Phillips (Charlton)

Fair? I'd say Lallana and Fonte definitely, the other three are up for debate!

Davis hasn't been consistent. One match he'll pull out a world class save, and then during that same game he'll cock up at his near post or get beaten by a tame effort heading straight toward him.

You forget.., every goal keeper is going to slip up every now and again! he's done very well for saints this season.. This is league 1, and kelv isn't a world class goal keeper.. so i would say that our goalie is prob about right for team of the year with the brighton 1, just missing out!

    Davis and Harding <laugh>

No Marcus Painter at left-back is ridiculous.

Happy for Harding..... easilly on of our most underated players. I think he has had an excellent season and been unlucky to be out the starting 11 a few times of late!

Davis,,,,, Stats speak for themselves. 18 shut outs this season. Only Brighton better that so suprised slightly it wasnt them.

Chamberlain and lallana although not started the most of games - the impact is there to be seen so fair choices!

And Fonte.... been a little off lately but solid! Totally solid!

I think this is wonderful for Saints and am very pleased for players concerned. When fans criticise our players, they should remember they see our players every game, but the opposition equivalent only 1-2 times a year, so if I'm told Davis is the best keeper then I'm delighted to believe it. Yes, he makes the odd mistake (and not many), but he plays in League 1 not for England.

Only one award I'm interested in, the award for getting 2nd place in the league. Nothing else matters.

I think Harding is underated but this is a step too far lol ;)

Davis hasn't had his most consistent season but has still done very well this season <ok>

Fonte - An absolute rock since his arrival <ok> Deserves to be in there!

Lallana - Saints through and through. Love this guy and I aspire to be like him lol <ok> Suprised he wasn't in there last season so he defo deserves it!

Oxlade-Chamberlain - up for debate in my opinion...

Pretty odd that the whole midfield is made up of players who play out on the wings?

I suspect Chamberlain has got in ahead of others following all the press attention surrounding his future in January.

Don't think anyone can argue with Fonte and Lallana. Then when I think about it I can't think of many better LBs or GKs than Harding and Davis?

A lot has been said about Smithies at Huddersfield and even he is a bit error prone at times.

All keepers are error prone. If we had a near perfect goalkeeper in league one... he wouldn't be in league one as someone in the Prem would have snapped him up long ago.

I think Kelvin Davis commands a lot of respect from fellow professionals and he does pull of some stunning saves at times.

Davis , Lallana, Chamberlain, Fonte - Best in the league by far. Shocked to see Harding in there but I wont complain!

Great to see Saints fill half the team! <whistle>

Nobody can argue with Fonte and Lallana. I think Chamberlain deserves it as well although some will disagree.

Davis still best in the league imo but i thought it would be that Brentford keeper Lee.

Harding is a surprise imo but then again are there any better left backs in the league, other than Dickson.

Anyone know who decides these awards?? Is it other players??

Just players vote for them (members of the PFA) and the voting takes place in Feb/March. So it often is biased towards players who have good first halfs of the season, such as Gareth Bale winning the overall player award.

Why they can't vote at the end of the season and have the awards just before the next seaso is beyond me.

I agree with CBK all goalkeepers are prone to errors. Trouble is their errors are highlighted, often because a goal has been conceded most likely. So would in the main agree especially as his distribution has been a lot better latter half of the season.
Same with Dan Harding a dodgy start to the season but since then has done OK. Fonte.....he is on his own.....My Saints player of the season consistent and very hard working. Certainly a good player and deserves his place. Lallana I do not think there is a player or manager in Div1 that would disagree with his inclusion. Chamberlain hmm, now that is a debatable choice, Not sure that I agree. He has done well but team of the season not so sure about that!

Hi All, I might be wrong but isn't this vote for 2010 (2nd half previous season, 1st half this)? If that is the case and Harding is in on the back of some great performances for us last season then I agree. Also bearing in mind that he's kept out Dickson this season so i'm happy he's in. Davis has kept 18 clean sheets this season and had a good solid 2nd half to last season as we climbed, unsuccessfully, towards the top 6 so i'm glad he's in too.
I agree that the only dodgy decision here is AOC, but voting probably influenced by his play before Christmas this season which was outstanding.
Fonte and Lallana - easy choices as they would be first on the team sheet for most Championship clubs let alone League 1

I agree with you. They pick a proper back four, but not a proper midfield? Waste of time

Does anyone know who got the league one player of the season, Lallana was nominated but I think he missed out? Lambert got it last year and its usually a prolific striker so I wouldn't be surprised or angered to find out it had been given to mackail-smith? Anyone know?
