Wolves prepare to sell Sunderland, Villa target Fletcher

Wolves are preparing to sell Steven Fletcher this week.

Sunderland and Aston Villa target Fletcher sat out Wolves’ defeat yesterday to Southampton.

The £10million-rated Scottish striker was officially left out because of an ankle injury but new manager Stale Solbakken expects to lose him before the transfer window closes.

Solbakken made a quick exit to watch another match but said: “I am confident that we will be weakened but I will be able to bring in replacements.”

Aye. So proud to be buying a relegated (x2) center-forward.

Lets offer £15m just to make sure we get him.

Where can i find that gun. I know here my head is. Lets get together.

If he were 1 of 2 strikers, with the other Gudetti say, I would be happier.

Peter Odemwingie to Sunderland is a move which could happen this week. Around £5million bid expected. #SAFC fans, do you want him?

I would be happy with Fletcher & Odemwingie.

i dont think it would matter who we were trying to sign or what team or league they were from we would be getting ripped off as its clear for everyone to see that we need strikers so we are going to get held to ransom especially as the season draws nearer and we become more desperate

I'd be happy with Laurel and Hardy if they scored 20 goals each this season.

I think we will tell Wolves to do one and not sign Fletcher.
Think Mr Short will not be messed about. Made 2 offers apparently both knocked back. I think he will have told MON to move onto next target.

If Wolves come back to us we should reduce the offer by 2-3 million. Its all a game of bluff and double bluff.

Spot on. As much as it's galling to be held to ransom by a Championship side, the £2-3 million extra we have to pay will be well worth it compared to the losses we'd make if we were relegated (which would be almost a certainty with the current squad, I'm sorry to say.)

I fail to see how we would be certain for relegation with our current squad? Our back 4 is solid and performed well. It's been improved imo as Cuellar is better than turner.

Our midfield is better than average with Larsson, McClean, Sess and Catts set nicely and with Gardener, Vaughan, Richardson, Meyler and Colback well served.

Up front is the problem area for sure but Wickham is a year older; Ji more used to his surroundings; Campbell has a full pre season for the first time in 3 seasons and Noble has certainly developed.

We do need additions to improve to be a solid top 8 team but would be comfortable mid table as we stand imo at 12th or 13th.

A couple of signings and the whole picture changes and they will happen.

Yes Cest we do need a couple or in my IMHO 3 signings, two strikers and if Fletcher is to be one sobeit plus another of similar ilk plus a creative central midfielder.

MoN did great when he arrived conjuring goals from the midfield, I guess we could do that again, but I am sure he realises we need more firepower up front.

Once again IMHO what did for SB was a lack of goals cos we did not replace, Bent, Gyan and Wickham and tbh we still have not done so

I agree our defence is decent but injury-prone, I'd much rather have got rid of Bramble than Turner but I guess there weren't any takers given his off-the-pitch antics.

I worry about the rest of the team though, the midfield isn't bad by any means but we still lack a real physical presence in the centre. Campbell has done very little to convince me he's Premiership standard, although he may still be recovering from his lengthy injury. Ji and Wickham could potentially make the grade in the future but I'd say a spell in the Championship playing regular football would benefit both.

I concede there are certainly worse teams than us but we'd be set for a season of struggle, hopefully MoN can bring in the players we need sooner rather than later. I'd say a new LB, a new CM, a new winger and 2 forwards should see us set.

He will go to Villa, they are more ambitious and are near to his family. Our defence is rubbish as i have over 30 years seen class players like Bould, Bennet etc deal with balls played into the box much better, so nothing up front or at the back makes very bad reading and of course Chris turner/ Shay given the best goalkeepers for years.

Monty987 why the **** do you still support us all you do is slag the club off and leave negative remarks.
And why the **** would Fletcher choose Villa over us he's Scottish so his family is closer to us. And they ain't more ambitious.
