Too much pressure on Ben Arfa?

    Does anyone else think we may be putting a bit too much pressure on him? Obviously he has quality and 5million looked a steal but he has just come back from a career threatening injury and might not be the same player again unfortunately. Lots of people on here seem to think he is certain to be brilliant and be our number one creative force next season but I dont think we should expect too much of the lad just yet. I'm not saying he'll be a flop, in fact I think he will do well here, I'ts just theres a chance he may not be as big a sucess as people think he will be.

    Obviously he won't be reading these boards, but he seems to be happy and can't wait to get playing and seems to enjoy the club, which is a great help for a player coming back from injury. No one knows exactly what Ben Arfa we'll get back, but hopefully it will be the same one that got injured :)

    He's got a whole pre-season to get upto speed. He should be ready and raring to go come next August

    If we need him and he is the difference between staying up or going down... no question, we play him.

    But, if we're realistically safe already, there's no point risking him. Ease him back into the squad and let him have a good pre-season.

    It's only natural to expect a lot, he's a current french international and could easily be in the Champions League. Also because of the specific area of the breakage, it apparently wont affect him physically in the future, although may have a mental impact, say for going into 50-50s. He's a top player and we expect a lot, but he knows he is a top player and will expect a lot from himself, so I think we're just fine <ok>

    I don't think we're putting pressure on him, we're just happy to see him coming back and are hopeful that he'll be his old self and play some good football.

    There wont be anymore pressure on him than before - players are recovering from injuries all the time and i'm sure he'll be back to his creative best soon enough.

    Also we will have started a new season meaning that there will be barely any pressure, compared to if we were in a relegation fight and he came back we would rely on him. But the low fee means less pressure.
