Brilliant night. It's not often something happens that genuinely makes you feel so much pride. Very proud of the athletes. Winners, and those who also gave their all in competing.
I watched enough of the football and can honestly say that we are in deep crap if that is the future of British football. Joe Allen, Sturrridge, Ramsey and practically all of the under 23 team were shockingly bad. Thank god the athletes saved them from the headlines that they deserve. To think some of our athletes had to finance their own training and that lot of footballing crap get paid 50 times more.
Sorry, they were cruising at the time I went out for a walk and Belarus won it. Hopeful for the possibility of Ireland's first medal tonight.
Half-witted Interviewer - "So were you trying to put down a marker to announce your intentions to your competitors?" Shakes-Drayton - "No, not really..."
Wonderful interview from Gary Linekar just there, including the gem 'well done on winning a bronze medal, was your aim to win a medal?'
The interviews are superb. Gary lineker is so out of his depth. John Inverdale is the master and I have been impressed with ian Thorpe and Colin Jackson who need to spend some time together. Michael Johnson and Steve Cram are solid and so informative and Brendan foster is athletics answer to John Motson. Just a word about Mark Lawrenson, you are the worse commentator and are not funny.
