Adam Johnson (25) Mins Played = 1,147 Goals = 6 Assists = 6 Theo Walcott (23) Mins Played = 2,728 Goals = 8 Assists = 11 With talk of Man City ready to let Adam Johnson go I really think he'd be an improvement on Theo in our team. Most Man City fans seemed to believe he was under used and he always appeared to have an impact in games. Theo still hasn't signed a new deal so if we get to August 31st on nothings agreed chances are we'll lose him for nothing next year so need to get ready to sell and replace (even if Wenger want OX to step straight in) Theo is and always will be a streaky player...exceptional talent at his peak, average and clumsy in large patches. We need to build a team that keeps possession and Johnson could be massive for us Would Man City sell to us? Potentially but if RVP does leave for one of the Manchester teams I'd prefer it be them and hope to get some players out the deal. Problem with Johnson as with any player for Man City is wages and if he's already on anything close to $100k he's going to be out of our budget
My sources are telling me that Walcott's people are due to meet representatives of the club imminently to discuss his future
If this happens its bad for Arsenal! Walcott is a star, revered across Europe. Nobody knows who Adam Johnson is!
No. Besides with Carzorla, Walcott, Podolski, OXO, Giroud, Ryo, Arshavin, Gervinho and possibly RVP we have more than enough Forwards/Wingers.
He is - in Spain they think the English are mad. My friends there laugh at it. After the Euro's they scratch their heads in disbelief!
Unfortunately, in England we have a very poor appreciation of the game. We do a lot of ball watching and don't appreciate the work players do off the ball, or what other teams have to do to prevent them from playing. Walcott essentially takes the opposition left back out of the game as an attacking force, even if he can't get by him, or never gets the ball, he has already scored points tactically over the other side. Adam Johnson may go past his man 5 times more than Walcott, shoot better, and cross better, but he doesn't carry the same threat that Walcott does, so he is in a different (lower) class.
Yes! Walcott is someone to be feared even by the best teams. Adam Johnson is a run of the mill winger who you wouldn't really plan for.
What? In spain they base their game around keeping the ball above all else. How does this fit with a player who gets it away more than anyone in the league?
What utter bollocks. We have just as good an "appreciation of the game" as any other country. Walcott is a decent player who on his day is superb but is often anonymous. I can only base it fairly on games I've seen live but in both our matches this season our left-back had plenty of the ball going forward.
Not really to be honest. Bolt will make him look slow and silly. Now if we had a 100m race for all the fastest footballers....
