TBF we signed quite a few foreign players under GT. Hazan, Bonnot, Bakalli, Guddmundson, Melvang, Iroha, Ngonge etc etc I dont think it matters what a players nationality is. If they are decent and perform well then thats all that matters really.
1) A bit early days to have formed that opinion - he's only had the squad for three trial matches so far ffs; 2) Of course, you can categorically state this because you know all of our signings personally.......... 3) Granted that's a possibility, but we had the same problem last year and overcame it remarkably well; 4) Show me a club, in any sport, that isn't. Play it like Donny? You could equally say that we are playing it like Arsenal and will end up like Arsenal - that's my opinion.
Donny signed experienced pros with inflated egos (or extremely over-inflated in the case of Diouf). That is an allegation that could possibly be levelled against Almunia, although dropping a division plus there's a couple of young keepers he can be a mentor for may mean that isn't the case anymore. Hall is an established player in England with plenty of Championship experience. The rest are young and (hopefully) hungry as they've come from our owners other clubs, both of which are in their respective top flights and they know that if they have a good season with us it should help their future careers when they return to those clubs. The simple fact is that no-one will know for sure until we're about a third of the way into the season.
Abdi looks to be a good signing, lots of experience for a 25 year old. http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/120802-fact-file-abdi-290607.aspx
Got a gut feeling that Abdi and Pudil are going to have really good seasons for us. Not so sure about the others though.
Another one joined apparently. Season long loan from arsenal, nah just kidding he's from udinese. Alex Geijo is his name. Striker was with Granada where he scored 26 from 60 apparently.
Hopefully Mex will be able to clarify the pronounciation. If we can get Vydra fit, and if we are going to sign Campbell, anyone else think that'll mean goodbye to Deeney? I would think that we're unlikely to loan out any of our young forwards with this new U-21 league which will mean we'll have the cover automatically available.
I think that means the end of Deeney. Although it could mean a lot of competition for places even if he does go. This is a good sign. And his name 'Geijo' is close but not close enough to cause himself some trouble with that one. I guess it sounds phonetically like 'jayiho'.
So in the first minute and a half of the video he missed a sitter of a header, got crunched, tried to chest and and handballed it. Later a few goals, another missed header, at least he can throw himself about a bit ! Also a fair variety in his goals, he looks good in the air, using both feet, we could be onto something here. 'Yeiho' is how it is pronunced in English, according to my lady. At 6.42 in the video the commentator says his name. Let's just hope he bags them like this on a cold autumn night !
After last night's good signs from Vydra, and if this transfer comes off too...things are looking better and better!
Good news, I want as many striking options as possible. At least four 'good' strikers. When I say 'good' I mean they can find the onion bag. Garner and Iwelumo, whatever other attributes they may give to the side, haven''t done that enough for my liking.
