42 golds to be won in swimming. Only 14 I think in track cycling. Point is, seems a ridiculous amount of events in swimming.
I thought the expectation of the crowd would get to the athletes tonight but it was just Jess's destiny to win tonight and in such style as well. Greg seems a very confident person and really believed he could win and did. Mo Farrah just makes me nervous but I am so pleased he won. Can't see that any other Olympic night can be better than this. The rowing has been fantastic and the way we are dominating the cycling is ridiculous. Trust the footballers to spoil things.
Just track cycling not road cycling. Golds all sports; US 26 UK 14 Golds minus swimming and rowing; US 9 UK 10 Golds minus swimming and track cycling; US 10 UK 10 Golds minus swimming, track cycling and Rowing; US 9 UK 6 Road cycling we both have 1 so no effect.
Precisely, I think you missed my point.... He said 14 golds only available at track cycling but that's ignoring a massive chunk of where we won our cycling medals. You might as well say 'only remove the backstroke rather than all swimming'.
So what's your point? Remove sports that they did well at and we did poorly at and miraculously we do much better. You cant just minipulate figures to suit the result you want. The fact is swimming is an Olympic sport and a massive part of the first week.
Guess the point is get good at swimming and your medals tally will be **** hot. I enjoy swimming but seriously, 42 events? And they have had to remove track cycling events.
The best way to do that is build some 50m pools. I dont know if it's still the case but just a few years back Paris alone had more 50m pools than the whole of the UK.
And France have just had a very good swim meet. Think we have been building more the last couple of years so maybe 8 years from now we'll see some progress.
