I know what you mean. If we had the worst injury record in the PL, and had Vidic, Fletcher and Cleverley out for more than half the season, we'd be utterly ****ed! Oh hang on....

http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012...-injury-league-with-manchester-united-bottom/

25-1? The bookies really saw Liverpool fans coming this year <ok>

Hmmm...let's see...Agger, Skrtel, Coates and Kelly, or Vidic, Jones, Smalling and Evans....I know which four I'd have, and that decision is made even easier now Skrtel and Agger have had their heads turned <ok>

Is there really any point in listing the likes of Anderson, Lindegaard, Berbatov, Owen, De Laet, Macheda, Gibson etc because they were never going to play a pivotal or a decent part anyway. When they were fit they were left out for most of the season and most of them are being forced out now, or have been forced out, by Ferguson.

Yea, hardly surprising that a bunch of aging players top the list of most injured. Ain't gonna get any better next year either! Respect to City's backroom staff for keeping all the players healthy and fit.

Good point. If you buy a team of Darren Anderton's then don't be surrpised when they can't complete a full season without injuries.

If United do not sign a minimum of two quality players, then they may struggle to make the top four.

City are ahead in terms of ability in squad, and Kagawa ain't enough to bridge that gap. Especially seeing as Giggs and Scholes will be less effective this year due to age.

This ain't wishful thinking, but close to fact. I think 2nd is the very best United can hope for, as there squad stands. and if the likes of Rooney pick up injuries, who knows.

This year the likes of Wellbeck, Cleverly, Jones and Smalling will need to step up to the plate.

This may sound a bit mad, but I would not swap many players from United with ours. Certainly none of the back five, prefer Lucas, Gerrard and Allen to Carrick, Scholes and Cleverly. and would not really want to lose Suarez, Carroll or Borini.

Rooney is essential to them, if he is off form, they may struggle, they also have very good wide players.

I think fergie is managing to drag the very best out of an average United squad, and we have underperformed. hopefully Rodgers can put this right.

Anderson, Anders and berba would of been involved. the former 2 were heavily involved prior to injury.

our midfield has been iffy for years now but we have coped well.

its made into a bigger issue than it really is.

as for needing 2 quality players... we have added kagawa who is a quality player regarless of your views. just because he is Japanese and not european doesnt make him a bad player. you are all in for a shock this season.

he seems to of settled well early on at united aswell. positive signs for us.

we will add another player before the window closes. one of moura, rvp or other.

If he goes to any English club, it will be City.

Personally, I think he peaked last season. He will probably still go on and score 15-17 goals next season...but not 27 or whatever it was.

How many times was Berbatov available but never played though?

Anderson may have played more but he's not made over 20 PL appearances in a season since his first season at Man Utd so not convinced that it was something out of the ordinary for him to be injured.

Lindegaard maybe, I always thought he'd been dropped after his performance against Newcastle away but seems it was the injury that made Ferguson pick De Gea up. Its funny because De Gea was actually really solid from there on in, or from what I can remember anyway.

Maybe, but then:

"The following United players each had one or more ‘significant’ injuries that kept them out for at least 14 days each time: Anderson, Dimitar Berbatov, Tom Cleverley, Ritchie De Laet, Jonny Evans, Fabio, Rio Ferdinand, Darren Fletcher, Darron Gibson, Ryan Giggs, Javier Hernandez, Phil Jones, Anders Lindegaard, Federico Macheda, Nani, Michael Owen, Rafael, Wayne Rooney, Chris Smalling, Antonio Valencia, Nemanja Vidic, Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young."

So that's one out of two GKs, all five CBs, all FBs bar Evra, all CMs apart from Carrick and Scholes, all wingers apart from Park, and all strikers. So only five players out of our entire first team squad avoided a significant injury during the season, and one of those only played for half the season!

Vice versa for me. The only Liverpool player I would seriously consider having at Utd is Enrique, and even then I'd rather we just bought a better left back to compete with Evra.

You could've said the same about Agger last summer, and he turned out to be one of your best performers last year. Just shows what a difference an injury free season can make! That said, you are probably right about Anderson - I doubt he'll ever actually have an injury free season!

Lindegaard wasn't dropped after Newcastle - he played the next few games against City, Bolton etc, it was only his injury that kept him out for a couple of months.

Personally I think De Gea's great run in form near the back end was largely due to us having a relatively steady CB pairing of Rio and Evans in front of him for a few games in a row - prior to that injuries had us chopping and changing pretty much every two games. Imo you'll always get better performances with a more settled back three than with players who might be better, but are always in and out of the team.

Well it is funny to see that LFC are not only despised by Utd which has been the case forever and a day.
They seem to be disliked by Arsenal, Spurs, Swansea, part of the Chelsea support and a few disparaging remarks by Norwich, Newcastle and QPR fans.
Such a nice club LFC.
Cannot blame Swansea, when the manager left and admitted he wouldn`t look at their club for players, yet once he sees the carp he has inherited, goes back for the whole Swans squad it`s utterly distasteful.
What do you expect though from a club well known as backstabbers. At least back in the day it was only stan you had to contend with.
