http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Butland I know wiki isnt the greatest but other sites have him born in Bristol( poor lad). Played for the under 16's which is the English schoolboys side. Anyway look on the positive side JackAsh this means the Brecon lad is out there and available.
I don't agree with Mabs but understand his point of view which, as usual, would have been well considered and not a knee jerk reaction. However, before FIFA or anyone else wants to make GB a permanent representation for the whole UK, should they not also look at tiny, meaningless (in football terms) states such as San Marino, Andorra, Leichenstein, Luxemburg and the Faroe Islands - just to name the European ones? I am sure there are other tiny footballing nations in Oceana, Africa, Asia and south America which mean less to football than Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland. Also, I am pretty sure FIFA like the numbers game and the more members they have the more important they feel and more membership income they generate. On another point, I am struggling to think of any Scots or Irish players who would have made the GB squad on merit and contributed the way the Welsh lads have. I am sure there are a few out there but I just can't think of them at present - Joe Mason excepted of course.
But ive been banned by the invisible swansea mod ...................;O) bit one sided dont you think ?
Note to self, check Wiki before making comments like that. Cheers Hilts. Definitely can't think of any Scots or NI players good enough to make the GB team then.
Well Mabs when i first heard of the GB football team my gut reaction was ohhhhhhhhhh no as we would be just a token name just there to support engerland but as its turned out and im sure a shock to all those in charge the welsh lads are paving the way for a very interesting tournement plus giving the side some backbone which we all know england by themselves have not got . It is good for our welsh players to get all this world attension and yes i have put an thread saying there is a call for a no GB team as would lov e to see Wales playing under owr own flag and anthem ,dont thik we would ever go down the road that cricket has gone with the welsh players lossing all identity as they should stand up and be counted by saying they should go under their proper name as the english & wales cricket team . I have tickets for saterdays game and i will get behind the team 100% but its my choice to not sing that anthem as i expect a lot will do but just quietly sit down and take in the moment of the day . Welsh first then British ,my choice but others are open to whatever they want themselves to be ............;O) Bllody ell i typed to a jack with any sarcasm!!!!!!;o) JH
Well done John. You can do it if you try. Enjoy the day tomorrow. Very different to a City or even a Wales game but still worth being part of.
Mabs is ok its just he was born the wrong side of Bridgend thats all ;O) Still carn`t see me and mates standing up and singing GB GB GB GB tho
Not many did on Wednesday. The lack of football chants/songs and banter were my only criticisms of the night. Oh yes, and that Mexican bloody Wave.
Now if we're going to be really silly, how about Tony Capaldi as well (who may well play against us for Oxford tomorrow).
Thank you for your response John and like everyone on here you have a valid opinion which i fully respect, personally i am fully against this Team for reason's which are fully documented on here. I fully realise that i may be in the minority with regards this but having taken a keen interest in this issue since the games was announced back in 2005 i have no trust in the english fa,FIFA or the BOC to look after the interests of the celtic nations and the long term independence of Wales as a single entity and footballing nation within the FIFA family Enjoy the game
Not interested at all ,99% are up their own arse and belive their own press ,sad but thats life and relegation will sort a few out and some might just pack it in out of shame .....;o0
Going on the thread title, we're going have to wait (hopefully) until tonight to get it back on track. Team GBirds well beaten last night.
