Hill, Nelson, Gallas, young as a back four would give a combined age of about 143, shocking!! I know they've raised the retirement age to 67 in this country but that would be taking the piss. 3/4 of our squad already get free winter fuel allowance.......

I wouldn't be after signing Gallas, but I don't think there's anything wrong with someone saying they want you to match the wages they're currently on if you're only looking at a one year deal.

But to come out and say youll only move for the money clearly defines the player as a mercenary. To him money is more important than player which is the exact opposite of HH.

    Hes their version of Hulse.

He hasn't come out and said it, a report has said he's reluctant to accept less than from you than he's getting from Spurs. There's no quotes saying he's refusing to. When I moved up here I used my existing salary and a reluctance to accept less to get a better contract, I'd still have ended up signing the original offer if they'd said no to improving it, but why not? He might be perfectly happy to join you for £40k even though he's earning £60k now, but why not act reluctant and see if he can push it up to £50k or even get the full £60k before he commits to it? He might even be asking for it in the hope that rather than increasing a one year £40k contract to £60k, you actually offer him 2 years at £40k. This time next year he'll be looking for a new club again.

Its Gallas, he will probably ask for 70k. I bet the line was fed by his agent trying to get him the most money.

When youve got £20m in the bank, does 10k a week really stop you from moving clubs? Surely money loses all its value as you already have more than you can spend anyway but as weve seen with Bernie, greed is powerful for the weak.

It does when you put a lot of your money into charities back home.

I think you make a very important point Dan. The partnerships across the back are so important and with the those players you listed expected to leave next year we need a good young CB/FBs to be in the squad and ready to fit in.
I'm sure that MH and the back room staff have it in mind, let's hope we see it happen.
