As we all know we are getting a new striker sooner rather than later so I thought it might be good to have a fun competition to guess who it might be, not who you want it to be. Lots of names being bandied around including, Connelly, Agyemang, Lee Hughes,McLeod,Jon Mackenzie or Jon Forte. So let's have your guesses and why I think it maybe McLeod because Martin had him before and I don't think that although he's on trial at Portsmouth they will be able to pay him.

It's going to be a shocker. My guess is that talks with players on MA's list went well and we'll see more than one striker join Connelly and McLeod. HELLO!
I don't really know in waiting for that BIG player to arrive , I personally think it should be a proven league scorer .but don't think it will be McLeod cause he is on trial with pompy , I reckon a league 1 striker

It's nearly the end of the weekend and no striker , come on Scally really surprise us with someone good .
Obviously it will be Chris Dickson. This will suddenly make Kedwell and Birchall look great players and it will enable all the winger fanatics to say if only we had wingers Dickson would score lots of goals and Gills would be top of the league.
A Notts County fan has said on L2 message boards that MA was linked with David Connolly last season when he was their manager and he is also a big fan of Christian Montana who apparently is out of contract at West Ham. I expect it will all be down to finances, so maybe that is the delay in signing someone as they probably want a bit of time to think about any deal that is being offered, especially if they are expected to come down from a higher division club. You would think their agent would be touting them around Championship clubs,but if there's no interest from higher up, players still have bills to pay and there's loads without contracts now, so who knows who we will get. Could be a pleasant surprise like the Peterborough pair were last season.
montana already signed for barnet vinney. as long as we get the right players in before the season starts, i'm not to worried about an extra day or seven as long as they are right for allen and gillingham fc !
Iwelumo will be on silly money. Would love to see him sign but really can't see it happening. Without being too negative as a League 2 club we are going to stubble to attract big names to the club and will have to make do with some League 1 cast offs

yes sorry, had a memory lapse i'm afraid i thought barnet had signed a couple of west ham players and that one of them was christian montano...obviously not i guess
