Just thought it may be of some interest to see how much we have cut off the wage bill....currently anyway.
Kuyt was on about £100 000 a week which was widely publicized, making it £5 200 000 a year less.
Maxi, I don't know exactly, so someone can help here. I would guess at least £70 000 a week or more? more or less £3 500 000 upwards.
Aquilani figures have surprised me, I thought the Italian shrew was on about £70-£75k a week. However the little bugger may have got more than we thought of about £110 000 a week!! Making it nearly £6 000 000.
The likes of Darby and Amoo have also moved on, which I would imagine would only free up about £1m a year in wages.

Anyway, in all £16million has already been freed up in yearly wages. On top of that, the selling of Kuyt £1m?? and Aquilani (nobber<ok>) £7m ish, pushes that figure up a lot.

Hopefully Cole would be on his way and Adam to follow, which would put another large chunk in addition.
Just quite shocking to see how much money gets freed up from a few departures and hopefully some of it goes straight to Mr Rodgers.

If I have any figures wrong, say so and I'll probably wont bother to edit <ok>, all best guesstimates.

All sounds about right to me, although it wouldn't surprise me if we let Aqualani go for cheaper than that!

It's great to see that we're getting rid of players that are aging and are on massive wages (Kuyt, Maxi and Aqualani) but before we get rid of anyone else (Cole and Adam preferably) we need to get people in, once we get one or two more in then I'll be happy to get rid of one or two more <ok>

Ya, would be good if we could get them in and then shipping them out looks a little less like leaving our squad thin.

It's great to get rid of Aqua's wages. Besides that I think players like Adam, Downing, and Cole drag down the esteem of the club, they are figures of fun to other teams fans, I think it is better to get rid of these players, and start again, even if means giving the youth a chance.

Exactly, I'll start to panic if we get rid of either Cole/Adam before someone else comes in. Would be happy with Allen, Dempsey and GR, also another striker if Carroll leaves.

I think we will see another 2-3 signings yet. Players that are not necessarily star names but will have a good work ethic and will fit in nicely to the new style that we are trying to adapt.

I think we will but I can see involved in last minute deadline transfers whether it is ins or outs or a bit of both!

Would really like to see Cole and Adam given the boot, would not be too sad to see Downing go either. Bit of a clear out and get a few new faces in. Make a proper new start.

    in: Dempsey, Allen, Ramirez

    out: Adam, Cole, Henderson

Would be quite happy with that. Give all the young lads a chance.

Opps, I meant to say Downing, sorry, definitely do not want to lose Hendo, will be a top player in a few years IMO.

    ...............Gerrard......Lucas........Allen...........
    ........Suarez.....................................Dempsey.
    ...........................Borini.............................

That looks quite tidy, would have a very strong bench with lots of options.

Just keep building slowly, and bring through the youth, that looks to be the way the new owners are looking to do things.

Like I said in a different thread.

    ---------------Lucas
    --------Gerrard-----Shelvey
    Suarez--------Borini------Ramirez

Looks a tad better and cheaper. Add Henderson to the mix too and Allen if you must..

yea, but it ain't our money, and the owners got the club on the cheap and ain't short of a few $$$, Allen a cracking prospect, would be a shame to miss out for the sake of a few quid, the manager has clearly identified something in Joe that we lack. Get the deal done...

As I said before, Shelvey more of a long term replacement for Gerrard, the midfield needs two deep players to allow the full backs to push and to compensate for the fact we have three up front.

Gerrard and Shelvey are better attacking midfielders hence the need for Allen

What is nice about having three up front is the fluidity, Johnson and Enrique (even though he is **** going forward) can be pushing up, allowing Dempsey or Suarez to appear in the centre forward potion, same as Borini he can play anywhere in the front three. As a defender the worst scenario is when the forwards are buzzing around all over the show, it's piss easy to mark a forward whose starting position is constantly the same.

Defenders never know whether to follow, so unless they are playing zonal marking, it can cause havoc.
