The rules of badminton don't state that you mustn't try to lose the game. I'm not saying punish Hoy but the badminton players shouldn't be punished. It's not their fault that the event was badly designed
the rules of cycling specifically say this type of thing is allowed though. according to the guy on the news this morning atleast.
False starts are not allowed in cycling pursuit if it's the fault of the rider. However, as was the case with Hoy's team, it was a mechanical fault that unseated the rider at the first corner. Hence the confusion at the time over whether the team had been disqualified or not. That's that cleared up then.
