    @RobTannerMerc
    LCFC have had a bid for Anthony Gerrard rejected.

    I wouldnt mind us getting him. If he is the man Nigel wants and Cardiff are willing to sell which they are by the sounds of things then i reckon we will get him

    I think AG has not taken being used as a sub (and latterly not at all) well at Cardiff so he may want assurances that he'd be first choice.

    If you did get him though he'd be a good acquisition

    Were will end up with no end of scousers. Nugent, Danns, Beckford, Whitbread, Konchesky are all either from Liverpool or have links to Liverpool

    Plus Peltier is on his way out

    He would have to compete with St. Ledger, Morgan and Whitbread so there would be no assurances of anything. As Morgan is the most consistent and has been given the armband I think he is the only one who will be playing every week. The others will rotate on form and injury

    I think Morgn and Gerrard would be the best 2 - but there would be spells of being dropped.

    Good CB, didn't Pearson have him on loan at Hull, but I personally would prefer someone younger at CB, like that Maguire from Sheffield United :)

    Yeah, he scored 5 in Pearson's first Season in charge. Great defender. Would have loved to have a back 2 of Chester and Gerrard. £200k is a bit of a pisstake offer though. He'll bid again at a reasonable price I reckon. You're battling Bristol City for him I think.

    Anyone know why he's so far down the pecking order at Cardiff? Not sure I'd want another CB with an attitude that is likely to clash with our manager's.

    Just offer around 500K and that should be enough. Not point hanging around and waiting

    Prouud - be serious ... doesn't make them scousers... if you adopt your criteria we have just as many Mancs - Wellens, De Laet, James, Drinkwater and Schmeichel ..

    Can he also play fullback or is he purely a CB?

    ed -bids for Gerrard are around the £200k mark - even if we bought him it is very unlikely that he would start in preference to Whitbread mate ..

    Which you are, of course, entitled to ... however the market price for Whitbread is somewher between £1 - £1.5 million; he is a full US international and many Norwich fans were sad (and somewhat baffled) to see him go. I don't see Anthony Gerrard as much more than a solid journeyman and he can't get into the Cardiff first team - for me he would be the Phil Gilchrist of the squad i.e from the MON years - a good guy to bring in as cover but behind Walshy, Matt Elliot and Tags in terms of the team sheet ... just for interest, how much of Whitbread have you seen?

    I think missing the penalty in the cup final that handed victory to Stevie G and the club he has supported all his life might have something to do with it <laugh>

    I don't think he played another game after that!!
