I'm sorry but I think both you and Brix have James' post all wrong. He was simply saying yes Sir to North who told him not to post. If you know Jim's posts, his spelling is sh*t and I'm certain you've mistaken this for some sort of "joke". As for the other one, I've just got a PM from Andy and his explanation is totally different to Brix' (although I'm not sure you even got it yourself Staines). Not that it matters but despite Andy's PM and Brix' other explanation I'm still totally in the dark as to what the fu*k the joke was supposed to be. I don't care if you don't believe me and call it "mock innocence" but the fact is, if there is some sort of double-meaning humour in that post, I don't understand it. End of.

With regards to Imaz' PM to Brix, I'm sorry he felt that way. Did I go OTT? He obviously feels I did and he could be right. As far as I'm concerned, I treated him the same way as anyone else. Yes I directed stuff at him but I've done that with pretty much everyone on this forum.

I've obviously upset the guy and for that I'm sorry.

 

Swords, i think we should just agree to differ on this one and put it to bed. I know what i saw and i don't think it was very nice and i'm afraid you are never gonna convince me otherwise. And if the full and frank post by Brix didn't make you understand then nothing will.
Trust me i've got more on my plate at the moment than worrying about what is said on an internet forum (Which i hope to explain very soon in another thread). I enjoy coming on here, i enjoy the banter and i enjoy the differing point of views (and that incudes EVERYONES views, even those that i disagree with).
Please don't ruin it for me.

Btw, i am willing to give James the benefit of the doubt and have apologised previously if i was mistaken. Only he knows what he meant for sure.

 

Like I said, I don't care whether you believe me or not. I never heard the name Gunga Din in my life and after looking it up, it still makes no sense to me in reference to a shareholder of ours and our three Muslim players sharing a religious meal. Its an Indian saying "I can't get in". I can't see the the humour in it nor the relevance. Maybe its my sense of humour that needs tuning.

Anyway it doesn't matter as Imaz explained the real reason for him leaving wasn't that thread but was because of my conduct toward him over the last few weeks.

 

All this crap is exactly the reason I had a break from this board before. The same thing happened last close season. It's seems that when there's no actual football to debate it all gets personal, and frankly stupid and out of hand. Some I guess think it's clever to bait others in the hope of getting some sort of reaction, but it's not, it's just childish.
This great board of ours, which the majority of the time is intelligent, witty, informative and entertaining, has descended into something which leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. And to be honest, I want no part of it, I'm afraid the board is in severe danger of imploding!

 

Reading Brix's view I think must have meant a racist joke but it's so daft as its the wrong race . Northolts post is also daft in reflection and I still don't get the joke and have been mentioned that I couldn't explain it ... I can't

 

I would say that we are all QPR fans here and should respect each other, even if we don't agree, (like Staines said).
This board is a part of our lives and we enjoy posting/reading about the team we love. However we should never make 'our own' feel uncomfortable or get personal.

 

I hardly ever bother with the board anymore, as it is just full of **** and abuse spouted out by a few people who just do it to wind people up.

Now that abuse has a racist element and we've lost a regular poster. Where does it end? I know that no moderator wants to be constantly censor comments and threads, but that's what happens when the people who cause the problems aren't dealt with. Deal with it and it stops.

I'm a Qpr supporter, all I'm interested in is supporting Qpr. I don't come in here for anything other than Qpr.

I don't adhere to all this "where were you when we were ****" bollocks. I've been there when we were **** several times over. I also don't care if someone has supported us for 50 years or 5 minutes, they still support the team I love. But what dies bother me is the fact that people are being bullied, offended and leaving the site because of one or two idiots, and the fact they are left to do it time and time again.

So it either carries on and it will get worse, or it gets sorted and things can get back to normal, whatever that used to be, be so long I can't remember.

This, together with what Stainsy, HE and TLR have said, describes both the will of the board as I understand it and the sane mentality of the vast majority of those of us who use it to share differing opinions on our club and football in general.

Having said that, TLR and Ellers are right in their mild but helpfully constructive criticism of my light touch approach to modding on here. Things wouldn't have come to this had I acted a bit quicker and smarter to stop the rot. I spent much of my time last night thinking exactly the same thing.

As many have appreciated recently, you have to step carefully when modding regular posters. Some of these equate to the mortar that holds our brickwork in place and to impose bans on them could end up dividing us into factions. More harm than good in other words. That's exactly why I've let some stuff go despite my personal reservations.

Then again, as we've seen of late, let things go and you end up in the same place, so wtf! Time for a bit of blood I s'pose...

To the naturally / helplessly disrespectful. Take my advice, self-moderate. If you don't, your arse in grass.

 

Brix it wasn't any criticism on you, I know it's a tough job and nobody like censorship.

But back in the old 606 days there was no worry because the BBC did all the work for us, and believe me they took no ****. But it meant the board stuck on track and any abuse was dealt with quickly so it didn't spread.

I could understand it being harder if there were lots of idiots, but in fact there is just 1 or 2. As I see it they have had multiple chances but don't seem to head that warnings. Just make this the very last chance, but I don't see a temporary ban as the answer, this has happened recently and look where we are now, back to square one.

 

Brix, you have a very tough job, one which I think you do very well. You have my full support and I am grateful for your time and effort. I share your concerns about the offending post which was treading dangerously and, at best, could have been misconstrued.

I have also seen various posters go way over the top at times. It's very easy to put something in writing something that one wouldn't dream of saying face to face and I guess self moderation means pausing for a moment to reflect before posting that IED.

This board give me a great deal of pleasure and I would like it to be inclusive in every sense of the word. Things do get out of hand occasionally but nothing that yellow and red cards wouldn't solve so don't be afraid to reach into your pocket.

I found what you've said in both your earlier post and this last one to be very clear and helpful TLR. Modding to suit the majority needs to be re-tuned from time to time - and this is obviously one such. Thanks for much needed your input.

See what you've done now Lone? Its Brix's light touch approach to Modding that makes this Forum what it is. Change that and the Board just becomes like every other one on the spectrum, I.E. Over-Policed Nanny-Blogs where a bunch of sandal-wearing, muesli-eating, polo-neck wearing, Volvo-driving, mind-numbingly dull, politically correct nit-wits gather to kiss each others arses from morning til night. Take one look at the Norwich Board and you'll see what I mean.

The one thing I regret on this Forum since its inception a year and a half ago is deciding to leave until the Season started at the behest of you LoneRanger. You didn't even have the courtesy to reply to a conciliatory PM so after a week I decided not to give you the satisfaction. Sheriff Brix and/or Deputy NUTS alone will make that decision in the future.

 

Oh, and BTW, Brix, Roger Morgan was sooooo much better than his brother, Ian.

 

Totally agree Rod. Not just Ian either. Best winger EVER in my book (as seen through the bleary eyes of a gobsmacked 13 year old loft boy)!!

He remains the only sleb whose official fan club I have been a fully paid up member of!

Swords, don't do anything on my behalf. I guess you don't want the board to be moderated cause you k ow full well the majority of what you write would be take down.

I raised my concerns, and yet 6 weeks later, here we are. Another person you've offended and quit, and you still dribbling on about reigning it in. You obviously amuse yourself and a few other like minded people, but the majority of us have grown tired of it.

Nearly every thread is hijacked by you and if someone doesn't agree with you it quickly becomes a thread where people are arguing with you. I know this it what you crave but the majority of us it becomes boring and makes most threads a bore to read.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but your opinion is usually aimed at winding people up or being just being offensive to them. You say it's just because it's the close season? Is that a valid excuse to be abusive or to hound someone from the site?

The fact is you can't help yourself, if people aren't being offended or pissed off, then you don't seem satisfied. You claim that moderating the board would make it boring? We'll see.

You say look at the Norwich board? Is that the same Norwich board that have banned you already for the abuse? For those of us who can still visit there, I can assure you it is still going and they all seem happy.

I've chosen to ignore you, but it becomes a pointless exercise when each thread becomes the swords show of abuse and crap. I don't know how old you are and hopefully it is because you are young and haven't grown up yet. But unfortunately I think you are going to learn the hard way that someone who just tries to cause arguments for their own pleasure will usually end up out in the cold.
