I remember reading that reduced squad story when ML first arrived. The Evening Post does that sort of thing on lots of it's stories.

Allen has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool, so it can hardly be called speculation. All that's to be decided is the price and Liverpool sound desperate enough to offer an amount that will be acceptable to Huw. He'll probably be playing for Liverpool before the official announcement is made. Think back to the official Rodgers announcement - it was long after it was all done and dusted. Most fans want to know what's going on and don't want to wait for an 'official' announcement.

Yes it can. You're basing your understanding on a mishmash Evening Post article, which itself is speculation.

I'm not basing it on an Evening Post article at all. It is common knowledge that Allen is about to sign for Liverpool.

Common "knowledge" amongst a bunch of people who quite frankly don't know jack **** other than what they read on forums and BS media outlets .... just like you and me. There are four people on this planet that know the real deal - HJ, BR, Allen's Agent and perhaps Allen if he chooses to be distracted and converses with his agent .... Oh and I suppose Joe's wife, but she only knows what Joe knows.

People said the same when Brendan left. They said it was all speculation and BS. It seems very obvious to me that this isn't just speculation. He has a release clause, ML has said he'll leave if the price is right, etc. Can't you see that this is more than idle speculation? If he wasn't leaving he'd just come out and say so.

The only 'knowledge' I'll trust as cold hard fact is what's announced on the club website.

"ML has said he'll leave if the price is right". Same applies to any player though and there's nothing unusual in that comment.

Only a fool would think that Liverpool aren't after Allen but the wave of speculation that's followed is nothing more than that. The fact it may turn out to be true is neither here nor there, it's still speculation for now. As much as the Rodgers saga can be quoted I remember the 'FACT' that Taylor was off to Newcastle being widely reported in the media and subsequently speculated upon here.

Casual, he's on GB duty. He won't say anything until his commitments there are over.

Allen is a swansea player until a club statement says otherwise.

In fact, Allen was asked while there, and said “I am here representing Team GB at the moment – that is all my focus is on.”.

He could have said "I'm not leaving, I'm staying at Swansea", but he didn't. He evaded the question, and we all know what that usually means.

You are free to think that he's staying, but many know that he's going. I think you are in denial.

You'll also be the last to know if you wait for a statement from the club.

Maybe he wants to see what Liverpool have to say. If they offer stupid wages, he'd be dull not to go.

What he said was the right thing to say.

He already knows what they have said, as they've agreed personal terms.

Says who, the Post .... please tell me there's more!!!! There is no reference to a source or sauce, official or otherwise .... not a car park attendant, nor a boot boy, not even the old dear that works behind the counter at Rossi's.

Call me naive, but surely Swansea would have to agree to allow 'pool to speak to Jo (as in agreeing a fee) before Jo can agree terms....that is unless his release clause has been met!

Joe Allen played an immense part in our solid debut premiership season.

Our chairman knows it's about strengthening and developing a club known as Swansea City. It's not all about
    Joe Allen .

Dyer,Danny G,Ashley Williams,Rangel,Vorm,Sinclair,Monk , Leon Britton ,Routledge, Moore...they all played their part in a memorable
    season for us.

It can kick on and it can be another year where we progress and build.Training facilities and ground expansion look to be moving ahead
ambitiously and if we approach the season with the same competitive spirit and belief we'll give ourselves a chance. I dont think we can afford to lose any more of the core players .

The financial ( as well as the football) platform we have in the English league system is unique and admired.
We don't have to sell Joe Allen....we're a club run responsibly without debt. What are we receiving from Sky ,commercial revenue and the Liverpool compensation for Brendan Rodgers -in excess of £55 million?

I think we'll see a few (wow factor) signings arrive and whilst Joe Allen looks as if he's leaving let's hope the club can keep Sinclair and
use the millions wisely and keep building and strengthening the project that is Swansea City Football Club.

He's been given permission to speak to them and has already spoken to them. Clubs don't usually issue statements about things like this, so you'll only be told once he's officially signed the new contract.

Again who has said, official quote, that Allen has been given permission to speak to anybody. The only comment from the club has been the official press release of the club in regards to the media speculation flying around most of which was a rebuke to Liverpool. Nothing as been said otherwise. No media report has contained a "XXXXX said", where "XXXXX" is HJ, Allen himself, Allen's Agent or Liverpool official that says that Liverpool have received permission to engage in discussions with Allen.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and provide a reference to the quote.
