I guess it doesn't matter if a player cheats, so long as his team wins eh?

Don't Portsmouth fans still cheer their team? They cheated creditors and you don't see them getting the hatred Suarez does.

The players didn't cheat the creditors, the board did and yes, they'd get booed if those who got us into this mess were still here.

I must say it's pretty funny how personally you've taken Suarez doing this, are you Ghanaian?

It wasn't really cheating. Handball is part of the game.

With clearly defined punishment that Suarez was happy to take for the sake of his country. But still, he's racist (even though he isn't really) and he plays for Liverpool, so he's clearly the biggest **** in the world.

Nah, I just like Ghana as a football team.

Yeah for goalkeepers! That's like saying diving's part of the game or even deliberately injuring opponents

"Cheating" would be something that is trying to bend, manipulate, or take advantage of the rules. For example, simulation.

Except diving is dishonest, deceptive and therefore completely different, and deliberately injuring opponents is a criminal offense.

This is the one sport that I will not watch throughout this Olympic season, particularly the men's soccer! Turned briefly to last night's affair and all I witnessed was a lot of pushing, shoving and arguing at a corner kick and the outcome of that incident was hopeless! Couldn't careless who wins it! I am much more excited about all the other events. Could the football on show compare with the sheer power of Bradley Wiggins, the gutsiness of our rowers, the nightly dramas unfolding in the swimming pool? Even handball? Not a chance! Already I am looking forward to Mo Farah taking on the powerhouses of Ethiopia and Kenya in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres, the head to head between the USA and Jamaica in the men and women sprint events, Sally Pearson in the 110 m hurdles, Jessica Ennis. Football?

So because Suarez knew he could get sent off, that makes it okay?

No, that's not the same. Diving is an attempt to deceive the officials and unjustly alter the course of the game, and deliberately injuring someone is just criminal. Handball is neither of those things. It carries a punishment, and in this case that punishment was justly delivered in the form of a red card and a penalty. Ghana then missed that penalty. That's their problem.

Yes, he played by the rules and sacrificed his place on the pitch.

Not knew he could - knew he would. It's part of the game, and he accepted that, and made the right decision. I know you're determined to make it out as if Luis Suarez is devil spawn but come on.

I imagine you also detest Jorge Fucile with the passion you do Suarez?

Football may be petty at times, but did you see what happened in the badminton? It's not just footballers who are petty.

Blocking a goal with a hand is unjustly altering the course of the game. Had he not broken the rule that outfield players can't use their hand, Uruguay would have lost while in a penalty, there's a chance that Ghana could have missed, as they did.

Using your hand to block a goal is against the rules, regardless of whether the correct decision to give a red card and penalty is taken or not.

Mate, you're kidding yourself. There's not a single man on Earth who wouldn't have done the same thing in that circumstance. There was no dishonesty and he did what was best for his team.

I'm not saying it's not understandable, and to be fair I probably wouldn't have had a huge problem about if he didn't gloat about afterwards, I just think it shouldn't be highly praised. Sure you can say it was the sensible course of action considering the circumstances, but calling it brilliant football isn't right IMO.

Well don't condemn him for it then. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Suarez, but this is not one of them.
