DJR - That's what young Joe is all about. Keep it simple, keep the ball. Tap and move, always available. I have said before, but that got beat down, but with Allen, Ramsey, Butland (He is Welsh, does he play for England?), Taylor etc, the future is bright for Welsh football. John, point me in the direction of these "comments" I have made about your fans. Wait, you can't, because I havn't made any.
GB did well to keep Uruguay out and Butland was my MOM. Uruguay got their act together when the sub Lodeiro came on. He got in between their midfield and forwards and did what Ramsey was doing for us. Then they went up a gear and Suarez showed what he can do - apart from score - he took Caulker apart 2 or 3 times. In the end Butland kept GB in the game. Good performances overall across the park from GB although I would have brought Sordell on for Sturridge after an hour. I would have liked to see Sinclair take on his full back more often as well, as Bellers did first half. Their lb didn't know what time of day it was and got changed second half. I think any criticism of Taylor is very unfair. He had a good game and got forward well. A bit like Allen, he does the simple things properly and had a great shot just wide second half. A very competitive game with Uruguay showing their less pleasant side second half when things were not going their way. A strange atmosphere though. A lot of people there who don't go to football often so little chanting apart from the single GB chant which only went around the ground once the whole game and no banter. More people seemed interested in promoting the Mexican bloody Wave rather than watching football. Its great that GB have done well and have a good chance of reaching the semis where they are likely to face Brazil but roll on the middle of August and proper football for proper fans. Has anyone else noticed that our friendly v. Newcastle kicks off the same time as the Olympic Final?
Oh, strange. He was born in brecon. Must have English mum or dad, or great aunty, or great great great grandfather.
Forgot to add, good review of the game blue. Agree completely on any criticism of Taylor, not because I'm a jack, but because he did nothing wrong.
Ramsey and Bellamy best players on the pitch. Taylor played well. Allen did ok. Sinclair should be replaced by Giggs. In and out of the game. Caulker - worst player on the pitch. Useless!!!!!!! Team GB could get in the medals. Caulker has to go though! Party at Mabons house if we take gold I hear.
Cheers JJA Sometimes we need a balance on here and get away from having a go at players just because they are from Swansea or Cardiff. All the Welsh lads are there on merit and they deserve total respect for that. As someone else said though isn't it great that Welsh players are an integral part of this squad. With the exception of Giggs but add Bale, Ashley Williams, Chris Gunter and others to the mix there should be good times ahead for the Welsh team.
Agree 100%. The Welsh boys really are at the heart of each performance so far with Bellamy and Ramsey the stand out performers so far. What's great about this from a Welsh POV is that besides the experience of playing in a major event, this will give them the belief and desire to get to one again with Wales. Also, it was pretty cool to hear the US commentator on NBC say that of all the stadiums he's been to in the UK, the atmosphere inside the Millennium was something else and amazing
yea so far the welsh lads have been the best players, shame butland isnt eligible as he'd be a big improvement upon hennessey. who plays up front for us though? steve morison? we have little or no quality up front. shame as the rest of the team has really improved in the last 3-4 years. we are at least the equal of ireland now and though we have a relatively difficult group, if we finish say 3rd out of 6 teams that must be viewed as good progress. yesterday i thought ramsey was excellent, i saw sinclair as the weak link, i thought he contributed very little, taylor is solid and gets forwards, okay defensively, decent player who i hope can continue to improve...
It appeared to me first half that Sinclair had been told not to attack his full back and hold the ball up to bring Bertrand in although the one time he attacked he played in Allen and Sturridge scored. Second half Sinclair stayed out wide and called for the ball with no close marker several times only for the midfield to cut back inside and go right. To me it appeared GB did not make best use of him. On to Saturday, play Sinclair again or bring in Giggs out wide? Ramsey, Allen and Cleverley must all play after their last 2 performances. Did Bellers get booked for verbals to the ref as Cavani tried to move him off the pitch? If so, that is his second booking. That being the case, is he suspended for Saturday?
Blue, I agree. Don't believe Sinclair played badly, it was more to do with what he was asked to do. He loves to take on fullbacks, and there was little of that from what I saw. P.s. swamp, he is eligable, he was born in brecon.
Wasn't he Englands third choice in the Euros, if he was, I don't think he is eligible to represent Wales.
"All the Welsh lads are there on merit and they deserve total respect for that." Agree with that and they've carried the team for sure. Shame Moron Hughs just can't bring himself to compliment any player who plays for Swansea. What a complete and utter cock. As you seem to be claiming players that haven't even played for Cardiff what do you think about Bale? Absolute disgrace and is far too big for his boots imo. Bit quiet on that front Johnny Moron.
Oh, and so did Sinclair. Look at little ol Bristol Rovers, you know, that **** team that don't give nowt to football. Well we only went and sorted you both out with good players. No probs guys, anytime
'Bellamy began his footballing career as a nine-year-old at Bristol Rovers, and spent two years at the club before being brought into the youth system of Norwich City' i'm sure those two years made all the difference
