I thought he was relatively complimentary about Suarez, not so much about Coates though. I would agree he's a twatty commentator but that's just because i don't enjoy his americanised strained pun-lines about the game.

Ball kicks up off his foot and unintentionally hits his arm while turning, clearly he moved his arm to hit the ball.

Constantly saying "no matter what you think of Suarez...(insert a compliment)"

Pretty sure he knows nothing about football as he mistook Cleverley for Bellamy.

Actually lawrenson is as bad. He has no insight and is incredibly jingoistic (is that a word ?). He slated Coates ,and generally talked bollocks.
Pierce is as bad as that tosser Alan green ...makes you appreciate the sky commentary team.

Cannot stand Jonathan Pearce. He just comes across as someone who knows nothing about football. E.g. Uruguay had a free kick in injury time, it was a comfortable save for any keeper. When Butland saved it, Pearce jumped for joy and made it sound like the best save in the world.

Don't get me started with Mark Lawrenson - he's just a moody tw@ who is more interested in saying 'funny' lines which aren't funny, than actually commenting on the game.

pearce was always a low grade commentator for me but who cares?

the damage to the uks reputation donw by the consistent booing in 3 matches of one person will mean i doubt south American players will feel to welcome here. they pay far more attention to the Olympics than we do.

I totally agree with you MITO on both counts. I have never rated Pearce as a commentator.

I made the same comment on an earlier Olympic thread about the World attitude towards British 'sportsmanship' after such moronic booing.! There really should be an apology from Sebastian Coe and LOCOG to the Uruguayan team. Now I know that visitors to this board will think I'm only saying this because it concerns Suarez but i truly believe that such crowd behaviour in the Olympic Games irrespective of the target stains our reputation as a nation.

it is funny that ok as "bad behavior" goes is fairly minor but it is by far the worst and only example of less than perfect crowd behavior. If it occurred in the main stadium at the 100m final its be very embarrassing. i think as its "only" football its excused.

The booing is shocking. Yes I know it's aimed at Suarez and we will be accused of moaning cause it's one of our own. I don't understand why they do it. Especially in Wales is it because of the racism case? Are they that moronic?
Possibly understand it at OT but it just puts our country and football in particular in such bad light. Consider this against ALL the other sports and it really is bad.
Still, football supporters what do you expect

I agree the booing is an embarassment but where i doubt you'll find many people agreeing is because you can be pretty certain that if they'd been playing at Anfield and it was a France team including Evra then there would have been just as much booing.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...

I know what you meant and you may be right but I absolutely hate this continual justification of bad behaviour with the theoretical "you'd have done it in the same situation"

LFC fans are accused with some small justification for putting "Scouse" before country. This selfish embarrassing booing just to get at an individual shows the rest of the country's fans are also putting "Scouse before country" too......

And just as a reminder. In the first game the crowd were booing Bellamy at every touch right up until he scored. And he was playing for the team they'd supposedly turned up to support.

So it was the Welsh..... not only us there last night sonny!! Therefore it is the racism thing..... but we are used to these broad swipes at our nation (ie you couldn't complain about us not booing the anthem so it becomes another slant)

PS Whilst I'm on one, but has anyone complained about the numerous english gold medal winners not singing the anthem yet??

Reason to the furore about the anthem and broad quotes about Wales .... AGENDA. RACISM IT IS WHAT IT IS.

PS not saying you are racist of course Wigger ... just on a rant, as I have been pissed off by the double standards within media types!!

Back to the thread... it just proves how big the ego's of ther football media are.

Within the Olympics, football is just another sport.... Hanson et al just don't like the idea of a slot on on BBC3 and 1 minute on a sofa with Gary on BBC 1. Has anyone else noticed how Hanson is slagging the game off on BBC3 but when on the primetime slot 10 minutes later, he changes his tone completely!!

The posession football by GB last night was what made the game 'dire' in Hanson's etes, yet the same possesion/stopping the opposition play for Spain the world cup was 'awesome' from the same fella. The football pundits saw team GB as something to shoot at pre-games, and they are in risk of getting egg on their faces.

Well played Stuart Pearce on at least trying something very different stylisticly from the England team.....who the same pundits said would take years to achieve the same type of possession stats as Spain had in the Euoros .... 5 games and not so bad to far! (it must fill you scousers full of optimism for the new season with the new ethos!!)
